The Pedo "swirls" are symbolically a large shape (triangle or butterfly) - signifying the "adult", encircling a smaller similar shape - signifying the child, attached by spiral. Not just any common swirl is symbolic of this sickness.
Context: This room was painted by the Vanderbilts daughter and her teenage friends in an empty room of the basement so they could throw a bohemian themed new years party. The designs were basically lifted from a Russian play brochure that advertised a popular Russian show that was popular at that time. The quality of the paintings make it evident they were made by kids. It is called the Halloween room but its only called that because of the black cats and full moons that were painted by them and the naming of the room occurred prior to the discovery of the information about the new years party and art inspirations came to light.
This is not a pedo symbol. Weve gotta stop thinking everything we see must be somehow a part of something sinister.
