Anyone coming into the area should be 100% self-sufficient. As for donations, I’d try and find some locals you can donate directly to, otherwise save your money because giving it to Red Cross or the like is basically giving it to the cabal.
Would never give to the Red Cross or the government.
Wife and I’s plan was to rent a car and feed ourselves etc. I have an uncle who is in Charlotte who I am in contact with about flying out to help out. Willing to car camp. We are just from the other side of the country and want a rough idea of what we are getting into.
If you have any direct links DM me. Wife and I will donate what we have.
Just trying to help and be affective in any way we can. If that is just donations cool, if that is physical labor cool. Want to help but not get in the way.
God bless you and that community. We have prayed for you the past couple of nights.
Prayer is important so thank you. Charlotte is about 2 hours from WNC. We have several communities just outside of Asheville that could use some help. Here’s a short list with some of the most damaged areas. This is by no means all inclusive:
Chimney Rock & Lake Lure,
Fairview (my family’s township),
Swannanoa,
Marshall.
You’ll want a 4x4 to safely get in and out of these areas. Most of Chimney Rock and Lake Lure is only accessible by foot. The damage is indescribable. Mud slides, debris everywhere. Power and cell reception is dodgy at best. I’d recommend being armed. You’ll want to check which highways are open from Charlotte. My daughter setup a gofundme for my family that lost everything. I’ll DM you the link as soon as I can.
I want to cancel my hunting trip and fly out to help out. Oct 13th-Oct18th. Only thing I can donate is my physical labor.
I am strapped for cash but I can’t watch my fellow countrymen be left for dead and not do anything. If I have to sell some silver and GME so be it.
Are their volunteer shelters? Are there towns with operational hotels within driving distance still?
Or is it better to just donate money?
