I was asked to show this movie at our County GOP headquarters. I did NOT want to watch it again - I was raised in North Minneapolis. It hit close to home for me. I showed it tonight and was shocked at the number of people that showed up and had never seen it. This is a great movie to get into everyone’s mind before November 5. Hebrews 8:13 says “ By calling this covenant “new,” he has made the first one obsolete; and what is obsolete and outdated will soon disappear.”
The Law is Love. This is how Jesus recast things when asked what is the greatest command.
Exhortations are not the same as Laws.
It did decay and become obsolete!
The word “covenant” does not exist in the Greek texts. It was only inserted into English translations, outright.
What appears to be being referenced as decaying and passing away is the Levitical priesthood, which did decay and pass away in obsolescence, to be replaced by our new and perfect High Priest, Yeshua! A mediator was always needed, but the time for the ultimate mediator had not come, so a temporary mediation system was provided.

The “more”s are detailed in the rest of the Torah. Not everything is covered in the Torah! The new covenant actually demands more of us than the old covenant did, not less. It requires us to listen for guidance on things that were not detailed in the Torah. Yet, precept is built on precept, and the Mosaic Covenant did not pass away, lest God change.
The Bible is incrementally revealing His nature to us, not meandering about trying to figure out what is righteous.
God does not change. He is the same yesterday, today, and tomorrow. The limitations are on our side, not His.
The OT prescribed external cleansing by Law.
The NT requires us to be clean on the inside by Grace.
These are two different religions, but Christ was born through the lineage and history of the OT.
The god of the OT loves the smell of burning flesh and the shedding of blood — the OT god requires sacrifice, as debt is always the result of legalism. The OT god only accepts blood and death. The OT god tried to make a deal with Jesus by offering him the kingdoms (legalist institutions) of earth.
Humanity was held in bondage by legalism (this is what we chose and the deal we made in the Garden at the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, law)— we were held ransom by the god of this world. Hostages. The only hope for redemption was a sufficient payment. This is why Christ came, to pay the ransom. Not to His Father, but to the counterfeit “god of light.”
Our Father is Love and Grace. This has always been His character. He never delighted in the spilling of innocent blood or burning flesh. The evil done to His son on the cross did not satisfy His anger or make Him happy.
Are you saying that the old testament and new testament are speaking of different gods…?

Yes. Jesus called the god the Pharisees worshipped the “father of lies” — but they kept the law.
You might want to realize the Old and New are two different books.
