Humans have made cats lazy, but pound-for-pound housecats are the most prolific hunters in the Feline community. They have prey animals in the hundreds while most cats prey on a few handfuls of animals.
Cats are a lot less maintenance than dogs too. Never had a problem ever housetraining a cat, even a small kitten. Plop them down in that nice new litterbox when you first bring them home and voila!
Often, if you have 3 cats, one will be the odd cat out and the other 2 cats will treat it as such.
I had 10 cats (all strays) back in the late 90s early 00s.
My vet called me a kitty magnet.
We have 8 right now, 5 strays, trying hard not to get more LOL!
At one time we had a total of 2 dogs and 15 cats spread out in my husband's house (before we were married), my Mom's (Joy 💛) and my house! All rescues from parking lots, restaurants, etc. I worked a deal with my vet, whenever we found one we'd take them in to check for chips and to test for FIV & Feline Luk and we would board them with him for a discounted rate while he helped us find forever home for them.
Now we have 3...just lost a baby to cancer in July...💔
How nice if you.
😽
I'm currently feeding an all black with yellow eyes stray street cat. When I first saw him his right front leg had been mauled by a dog. He was limping and looked a sorry sight. He won't come near people and it was hard to earn his trust.
Now he doesn't run away when its diner time. He stays and hisses at me when we make eye contact. I don't think he knows how to meow. He's a tiny thing compared to other strays around. I don't think he'll become a pet, he's too wild. But he knows where he can get a top quality meal and shows up at sunset every evening for his dinner.
I took care of a cat like that for years.
I'd get home from work around 11:30 PM. Around midnight he would be sitting on the edge of the deck.
I named him Midnight. Never once got to pet him.
Wow that was amazing. I had two the mom and his son who was born inside of the bathroom. The baby was almost flushed for my sister. Thanks God someone found out before he was killed. He was white as the color of the snow, but later in his juvenile life was attacked by several cats and scarred in all his body. Btw both were killed at the end by my old neighbor she used poison, but later people told me that she didn’t die peacefully. You pay for what you do in this life for sure.
I had two sister cats and when they were around seven I brought a Tortie kitten home.
We referred to her as the bastard child.
They both passed away and the bastard child is holding on at fourteen.
Aaawwe we had a Maine Coon that lived to 24! She never went outside.
Those cats are huge. I can't believe it lived that long. The one cat was 15 the other was 19.
My cats never went out.
They do however sit on the porch with me.
Aaawww...they want to be with Mom! 💕
I've had the honor to care for 19 cats in my life. One lived to be 22; most of the rest made 18+.
I blame it on the distilled water.
Hooray! You saved do many lives Uncle! There is a star in your crown in Heaven! 🌟👑
What a blessing you are! I give our babies bottled spring water, the same thing we drink but, have wondered about Alkaline or Distilled water for them?? Do excited you mentioned this!
Oh is this true. We live in a forest. Two cats no mice for 2 or 3 years. The cats stopped hunting. Sigh. We fight those mice constantly. I hate those little f**kers.
My dogs have been easy to train ever since I've been in charge of training them.
The only time accidents have happened is when they've had UTIs.
My huskies in particular were house trained from the outset.
My last dog was a chow chow, and I bought her from her owner when she was 6 months. She crapped in the house the first day afraid of a new house and new people. She never had an accident after that. I miss her... The only pet I ever paid for. Too tired to share more, but wow, she loved me too and kept scumbags from breaking into my house at night while I was at work.
