KYIV, Ukraine (AP) – A video purporting to show dozens of North Korean recruits lining up to collect Russian military fatigues and gear aims to intimidate Ukrainian forces and marks a new chapter in the 2 1/2-year war with the introduction of another country into the battlefield, Ukrainian officials said.
In the video, which was verified by Ukraine’s Center for Strategic Communications and Information Security, which operates under the Culture and Information Ministry, presumably North Korean soldiers stand in line to pick up bags, clothes and other apparel from Russian servicemen. The Associated Press could not verify the video independently.
“We received this video from our own sources. We cannot provide additional verification from the sources who provided it to us due to security concerns,” said Ihor Solovey, head of the center.
“The video clearly shows North Korean citizens being given Russian uniforms under the direction of the Russian military,” he said. “For Ukraine, this video is important because it is the first video evidence that shows North Korea participating in the war on the side of Russia. Now not only with weapons and shells but also with personnel.”
The center claims the footage was shot by a Russian soldier in recent days. The location is unknown.
It comes after the head of Ukrainian military intelligence, Kyrylo Budanov, said in local media reports that about 11,000 North Korean infantrymen were currently training in eastern Russia. He predicted they would be ready to join fighting by November. At least 2,600 would be sent to Russia’s Kursk region, where Ukraine launched an incursion in August, he was quoted as saying.
“The emergence of any number of new soldiers is a problem because we will simply need new, additional weapons to destroy them all,” Solovey told AP. “The dissemination of this video is important as a signal to the world community that with two countries officially at war against Ukraine, we will need more support to repel this aggression.”
The presence of North Korean soldiers in Ukraine, if true, would be another proof of intensified military ties between Russian President Vladimir Putin and North Korean leader Kim Jong Un. Last summer, they signed a strategic partnership treaty that commits both countries to provide military assistance. North Korean weapons have already been used in the Ukraine war.

well, it's happened before. In the Vietnam War, North Vietnam invited North Korean pilots to fly missions against South Vietnam but insisted they wear North Vietnamese uniforms.
Oddly enough, some of those missions were flown against South Korean troops that were assisting South Vietnam. So the Koreas continued their war but in Vietnam...
Pure lies.
Ok, well maybe they will actually be eating a good meal or two for a while.. that must be a treat for them?
OK. Ukraine propaganda... and we're supposed to believe it?
The Military Summary Channel seems to report quite reliably on the Ukraine situation. The first three minutes of this edition tells us about the North Koreans.
Update from The Military Summary Channel
You think they faked the footage?
Some other data points.
North Korea has been sending arms to Russia

Russia and North Korea signed a mutual defense pact earlier this year.

It's claimed that North Korea. Soldiers have already died in Ukraine. https://www.kyivpost.com/post/40037
South Korea says NK special forces were sent to Ukraine which would confirm Ukraine's intel https://en.defence-ua.com/news/south_korean_intelligence_reports_north_korean_special_forces_sent_to_russia_to_participate_in_the_war_against_ukraine-12234.html

I think we're about to get unambiguous evidence of dead North Koreans in Ukraine>
It is all propaganda - an 'axis of evil' narrative. The video that supposedly proved it, was of 30-odd brown people standing in line, that looked SouthEast Asian, NOT NK. Easy to hoodwink a bunch of stupid people.
Please go and look. It's not Raciss to Notice such things. Koreans are NOT brown people that look Vietnamese or Burmese. It is all lies.
Yes, NK has signed some stuff with Russia, and they share a border: From what I saw, it was a technology and intelligence exchange from Russia to NK, as well as food, which is appropriate in my opinion. I think they are fortifying a rail-line to expedite. It was a humanitarian move, IMO.
Russia decided to break the international sanctions against Korea (and that's fundamentally the butt-hurt) . And to be honest, it is well beyond time to stop that nonsense of sanctiooning a population, especially when it comes from Russia, who are also sanctioned, BTW. Putin no longer felt compelled to observe what the West was doing to NK,
Anyway, Russia does not need more troops - I have not seen any NK-made weapons being used. Some Chinese stuff, (i.e. souped-up golf-carts and motorcycles - not weapons) sure. And also, Russians have more volunteers than what they know what to do with.
North Korea and Russia signed a mutual defense pact. This year. They are allies.
Forgive me for doubting your expertise here.
Russia says read what we signed.

This is flat out false.
Do you include artillery shells?
This is one of many sources saying NK has been supplying Russia big numbers of shells.
https://www.rfa.org/english/news/korea/north-korea-munitions-production-ukraine-russia-07292024131858.html
Munitions with Korean writing found in Kharkiv have been showing up on social media since February
OK, I stand with what I said, but even if all you say is true:
How is Russia using NK munitions any different from Ukraine using British or German ones?

Austin commenting on this indicates this is considered a genuine report and not just some propaganda play.
As I mentioned.... I think we're about to get unambiguous evidence of dead North Koreans in Ukraine.
We'll see in a month or so.
Russian territories cover like, 70% of non-island North-Western Asia. Siberia is in the far east of Russia. You start seeing a lot of Asian-looking people once you move beyond the Moscow latitude.
These soldiers are Buryats, Siberians, Asian-looking Russians. And to give the benefit of doubt, Asian mercenaries.
Norks are yellow not brown.
We’ll get to see just how tough the NK military is.
I think they want to learn about 21st century warfare.
The Ukraine conflict is absolutely changing the face of all future wars.
Ukraine has only been able to withstand so far because of the dominance of their drones. Russia is trying to catch up to them.
If you think of drones the way the US use them a decade or more ago where they tried to file a missile at a high value Target while minimizing over casualties, That's a really outdated view of drone warfare.
Drones are probably used for dozens of different military tasks.
There's an anti-tank defense device called a dragon's tooth which is essentially a giant heavy pyramid of concrete or something. Apparently they have drones that could just lay them on a highway in the middle of the night.
They're using drones to drop incendiary material on tree lines and burn out the troops who are covered there. I think they use thermite
correction: I think the Russians are playin the drone game better than Ukraine now. 3-d printers right at the front.
Yes Ukraine had the drone-advantage early on, but not now. Recently, it took about a week for the Russians to start laying down fire on the enemy trenches and forest-belts, just like Ukraine were doing. You play with fire, and get burnt.
Have you seen the spoofing 3-d printed spheres that are taped onto some drones to make them appear bigger on the radars? According to Apti Alaudinov, about 50% of Russian drones are carrying them now, because they draw the AA-fire - but they are just cheap nothings to confuse the Ukraine defense intelligence.
And I am sure that drones are laying dragon's teeth - but how does that explain the piles of them un-arranged next to roads?
Piles of dragon's teeth. Pickup points perhaps?
I have been seeing Russian sources complaining about drones for a long time. Until just like two months ago. Russian drone production was done through a big military contractor. While Ukraine had dozens of independent shops. Putin has just announced changes to how they contract out drones.
Erm. Watch Patrick Lancaster - he shows Russians on the front line 3-d printing parts for drones. I don't think drone production is as centralized as you think. Furthermore, they use open-source mechanical parts from China - also not centralized. And yeah, they now have the upper hand. Of course, they have to hide and have protocols for how to deal with Ukrainian drones, so you will hear soldiers 'complaining'.
lol
"Dozens of North Korean recruits lining up to collect Russian military fatigues"
Wow, that's a LOT! LOL. Ukraine in full panic.
