I’d hazard a guess. It was a warning. Either to him. Or to someone he is close to.
Roughing someone up. Or going after peoples friends and loved ones is a classic tactic used by essentially everyone. SPLC, ADL, and other number of Criminal Organizations, Intelligence Agencies, Law Enforcement, Terror Groups. Various Paramilitary Organizations, Political Activists, Labor Unions etc.
Because it works. As most people inherently value the health, and safety of those they consider friends and family. Over any other loyalties, whether to an organization, nation, or even just what they claim to values, and their principles. Not to mention the health and safety of strangers.
There’s also a remote chance it was a normal accident. And the story is real. Ala tripped on a curb or something. Man’s 74 probably isn’t moving like he used to. And falls are harder to bounce back from the older you get. And people don’t always do what makes logical sense. Which is why the story sounds odd.
Granted it’s a remote and small chance. But it’s still not a zero percent chance.
