Housing costs should work the same way
I'd say housing will be far more noticeable.
Winner, winner Chicken Dinner!
The whole chicken industry is disgusting. I’ve stopped eating anything from Tyson and other industrial chicken product producers. It’s really sad how our “food industries have developed to meet “consumer demand.”
Currently in the DR and a pack of chicken wings you’d normally see in American grocery stores for $18 cost about $5. I even got the photo because I couldn’t believe it. A package of 10 whole wings (meaning 10 drums and 10 flats) cost 103.25DOP or $1.70. Ground beef is $2.95 a pound.
We’re doing something very wrong.

I cold brine these for 2 days w/ meat tenderizer and black pepper
I’d imagine it’ll also spur the drive to automate some functions they currently rely on the illegals to do.
Which leads to a somewhat fascinating phenomenon. You’d think they’d be inclined to have been automating from day 1. But the desire to do so eventually stagnates in a “If it ain’t broke don’t fix it” type of mentality. Which is a curious phenomenon that regularly crops up in civilizations.
That seemingly flys in the face of the idea of constant progress that seemingly underpins quite a bit of modern Western Philosophy.
My wife brought home some “Organic” chicken thighs. Gotta say they’re way better than regular chicken.
Weird...isn't the point of hiring cheap labor to make food more affordable...oh wait, apparently it's not 😒
