What they SHOULD be doing is pushing for the repeal of the 17th Amendment -- or, even challenging it in SCOTUS.
THAT would give the State legislatures control over who their senators are.
That is how the Founding Fathers designed it and intended it.
Texas (and others) are finally waking up to the treason that was the 17th Amendment.
The 17th is unconstitutional, as the Constitution explicitly states that no amendment can take a way the States' right to sufferage (voting) in the Senate.
Article V (about amending the Constitution):
Provided that ... no State, without its Consent, shall be deprived of its equal Suffrage in the Senate.
The 17th Amendment is a violation of that requirement.
The worst possible amendment. Created little emperors out of senators. When before they were simply messengers for the individual states and acted as their voice in DC. Now they do what they want and the states have no voice in the federal government. This is a broken system that needs remedy
Unfortunately, the enactment of an Amendment creates a revised Constitution. That provision was superseded by the 17th Amendment.
I have read that there may be a legal challenge to the manner in which the 17th Amendment was passed (something to do with sufficiency of votes, I believe). I may be confusing that with the passage of the Amendment that allowed income tax.

100%.
The House represents the people and the people of each state elect their representatives.
The Senate represents the states and each state elects their representatives.
It was perfect to begin with.
Yes, and this move by this guy seems like he is just another RINO type.
He fucking knows that this legislation will mean nothing.
The 17th has to be repealed or declared unconstitutional by SCOTUS.
Nothing else will give the States back their power over the senators.

you're definitely confusing it with the income tax. it was supposedly never ratified.
