Anyone who has served in the military and has been discharged under honorable conditions should be granted a lifetime permit for automatic weapons.
Additionally upon discharge from service should receive an M16/M4 and a sidearm.

We shouldn't need a permit for our constitutional rights.
Shall not be infringed, includes automatic weapons.
I 100% agree and your position is the ideal best.
Exactly.
Unless you served at Ft. Bragg and had your brain scrambled by our corrupt and evil government? Other than that, I’m with you 100%!
Come on. There are many who served at Bragg and did not get a scrambled brain, my husband for one.........well maybe you could argue that his marrying me was because his brain was scrambled........nah.
Not everybody…that’s not what I meant 😬
Just seems like a recurring theme lately with the crazies from Vegas and New Orleans and Timothy McVeigh and however many more…
Sounds fine.
Abolish the ATF, maybe we can all have a giggle gun.
My DD214 likes this idea
So does mine 😁
...I have no issue with this concept...
Sweden does this. You take your weapon with you on discharge and a case of ammunition.
Wish I could have kept my M16.
One of the most enjoyable things I have done in my lifetime was fire live rounds from a Mark 19, nothing compares.
Love the mark 19, had a .50 caliber crow system on a humvee while I was in Iraq, that was pretty wicked, swapping barrels was a pain in the ass though.
Why not everyone?
That would be ideal.
The 2A should be upheld regardless. The leaving with weapons is a great idea.
I wouldn't limit it to military veterans. That should apply to anyone that has no criminal record or history of mental disorder and is a legal 18 yr old+ citizen of the U.S. I'd even go one better, I'd give each an allotment of 100 rounds per year for each weapon and built a couple thousand ranges nationwide so that everyone can get certified in safe weapons handling, defensive tactics and has a location within a short distance of where most people live to practice.
I would love this. Can I get my side arm and rifle after Trump is in office?
Agreed 🔥
Totally disagree.
Why? On what basis?
So your rational is just because you were in the military that makes you more qualified to handle those weapons? A lot of people in the military havent fired or tanken care of a weapon since basic. Makes no sense.
No, my rationale is to expand the ownership of such weapons at least incrementally.
I believe EVERYONE has the right to fully automatic weapons, but AT LEAST honorably discharged veterans should have it.
YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!! NO questions asked...the ONLY thing one would to present is a "certified" DD-214!!!!!! CERTIFIED MEANS A DOD STAMP ON THE THANG!!!!...
I totally agree with Pbman2...however, SOME municipalities just like to make the VETERANS WAIT A LIL' LONGER...that is what I was referring too!!!
Pbman2..Tango Yankee for bringing this up!!!!
Is DD214 another way to say "US birth certificate"? If so, I'm all for it.
No it's military discharge papers....
...but I PREFER "US Birth Certificate."
Do you think the 2A covers unknown technology our forefathers could not have forseen? Like a personal, hand held DEW weapon? Should this fall under the 2A or under armaments only the government can possess, like a nuke?
At the time the BOR was written, cannon, any arm, ships of war were all owned by private citizens. The writers/founders were wise, educated, some engineers and scientists…they knew technology would progress.
Arms are arms.
It covers "arms."
Arms Definition: Anything that a man wears for his defense, or takes in his hands, or uses in his anger, to cast at or strike at another.
Agree.
Yes - and if the soldier was assigned a dog or horse during deployment, they should get to keep those as well if they want.
Automatics aren't necessary but I agree with the idea in general
Honorable or general under honorable conditions, only. Buy your own damn gun. M16 and M4 are a piece of crap.
