President Trump fired the head of the FBI Washington Field Office, according to NBC News reporter Ken Dilanian.
David Sundberg is the highest ranking FBI official to be fired in Trump’s second term. Trump fired FBI Director James Comey during his first term.
Sundberg oversaw the January 6 investigation and the investigation into the so-called DNC pipe bomber.
According to NBC’s Ken Dilanian, the purge is much larger than originally reported and includes more than 20 heads of FBI Field Offices.

President Trump really seems to be trying his best to save this agency. Many think it's too corrupt to save (which I hesitantly need to include myself among those people). I can buy that the rank and file members are not corrupt, but they certainly fell for propaganda. How many actually patriots are among them?
I still very much trust President Trump though, so I can wait to see how this plays out. But it is still concerning that we saw such a lack of FBI whistleblowers, which leads me to believe that even the non-corrupt agents are all cowards and shouldn't be there. But I was never in their position so I can only judge based on what I think I would do in their situation, not what I would actually do.

Trump and company only need to verify what is true with a few interviews of peers of the whistleblowers. Those peers will flush out the stories as fact or fiction to gain some other end.
