Trump claims Palestinians have 'no alternative' but to leave Gaza during his Oval Office meeting with Netanyahu
Trump said he believes the Palestinians would be better off moving to neighboring Egypt or Jordan. A spokesman for Hamas called his remarks "a recipe for creating chaos."
My takeaways from the article are President Trump wants to eliminate Gaza as an excuse for Israel to wage forever wars.
“Trump said, "the U.S. will take over the Gaza Strip, and we will do a job with it too. We’ll own it and be responsible for dismantling all of the dangerous unexploded bombs and other weapons on the site, level the site, and get rid of the destroyed buildings. Level it out, create an economic development that will supply unlimited numbers of jobs and housing for the people of the area."
Trump said the "long-term ownership position" would bring "great stability to the Middle East."
And, he actually cares about the Palestinian people and wants to create an opportunity for them to escape a hell on earth existence.
“I don't think people should be going back to Gaza. I think that Gaza has been very unlucky for them. They've lived like hell; they've lived like you're living in hell. Gaza is not a place for people to be living. The only reason they want to go back, and I believe this strongly, is they have no alternative. What's the alternative? Go where? If they had an alternative, they'd much rather not go back to Gaza and live in a beautiful alternative that's safe," he said.
Excellent comment that provides some important perspective for me. I'll keep my eyes on this, but always skeptical and ever-vigilant.
I understand, we’re so accustomed to the way things have been run for decades. This feels different, President Trump appears to be aggressively going after the mechanisms that support the status quo.
Yep, can ya blame this Anon for having even a little bit of reactionary "WTF" feelings? I'm tired of dealing with the "every single time"-ers running roughshod over everything.
Still, I thank you for your input up there. Could be another big decoupling move by Trump.
So, without saying it, he's claiming the oil offshore there...
I could see military bases, archaeological digs, desalination plants, land restoration, eventually golf resorts and a shiny Tower.
As of right now. Apparently we’re taking over the Gaza Strip. According to Trump.
And from Netanyahus reaction. It was news to him as well.
This year is set to be a wild one. And it’s only the start of February
that's going to trigger them
I can hear the REEEEEEEEs descending from the hills as I type this!
The foreward thought and brilliance of Trump is revealed more and more every day. He said he wants people to stop dying. He means it.
Keep your friends close, and…
If the US actually takes control of Gaza, those that go there to rebuild it can expect endless 'terrorist' attacks from our 'greatest ally' in the ME. However, the blame will always be pointed to some Muslim boogeyman.
In my opinion we are just stepping into a shitstorm, and we would be better off leveling the whole fucking region, and everything adjacent to it.
The Israelis already gobbled up half of Syria, and now they'll have Gaza. Greater Israel is right on track. Who is up next? Jordan? Lebanon?
It looks like zionists are still running things. More bombs and weapons and land grabs.
