I'm a man/father to a young son. While I don't consume much Hollywood anymore, there is a recent trend that really irks me. Per the article, Gen Xers (which I am too) went to movies to watch heroes overcome and conquer evil. The trend of late I'm seeing and sickens me, is that heroes or anti-heroes are killing their own fathers.
Never saw that growing up, and hard to explain it to my young son. He saw Kylo Ren kill his dad (Han Solo) and I could just see it in his eyes, trying to wrap his head around why a son would kill his father. Sickens me that Hollywood would plant that idea in kids movies. It happened again in the Dexter series where Dexter was shot by his son. (My boy hasn't seen that one).
The trend in movies of kids killing their parents needs to end, like just about everything else in Hollywood.
(Damn....didn't realize I typed that much....sorry for the rant)
For sure. He hasn't watched that one (he's only 12). I watched it solo, but I'm calling out the trend of kids killing their fathers. That's what I'm taking issue with.
"Recently, Donald Trump appointed Jon Voight, Sylvester Stallone and Mel Gibson as ambassadors to Hollywood. Why would he do this unless he thought Hollywood has been and could be again an important part of what makes America America? He obviously sees the destructive force Hollywood has become, why not just burn it to the ground if there is no hope for it?
In my opinion, Trump understands that Hollywood could be used the way it was used with me and many others in their youth—to inspire and shape while entertaining."
So many old shows were entertaining and had good moral lessons imbedded in them. They showed how people can help each other and be good to one another.
Can we do away with:
The bad guys are the hero’s, being cruel is funny, killing people is fun, thugs are cool, supernatural demons, parents are idiots (especially Dads), girls are sluts, families are nonexistent, and can we PLEASE stop flashing scenes that only last two seconds. Also, there doesn’t have to be music all the time, quiet is ok.
Maybe part of why Trump hasn't fixed Smith Mundt yet. The fact is we have a lot of stupid, weak, and gullible people. Good movies and propaganda can be used for positive effect. We may not like it, but it's then again it's not meant for us.

Avoid it if it was made 2010-2023
Um Dexter isn't really for kids. May want to skip that one for now.

Na, I don’t believe it yet. Not until all the Epstein and Diddy clients go to prison!
Good article, worth the read.
