The IRS was founded by Congress, so it would be up to Congress to eliminate it. Not likely this year, but as Congress comes to see how popular this president is, and how UNPOPULAR the IRS is, future Congress-critters might see it differently.
But the Old Guard we're still stuck with now? Nah, they can't think beyond their next election.
Well so far (to my reckoning anyway) DOGE has self-limited itself to Cabinet agencies, those under the Executive Branch. Anything under the Executive Branch (i.e., the President) can be audited and personnel terminated at the President's pleasure. The IRS and Treasury, however, although they too fall under the Executive Branch, were created by Congress, and it would take Congressional action to eliminate them. At least that's how I understand the Constitutional basis of our government.
If the pendulum swings back into the dems favor, somehow, the dems will not only re-arm the IRS but make the IRS more powerful than ever. The dems will start taxing unrealized gains, then it will be GAME OVER for all Americans.

I wonder how many of the Old Guard will be arrested for J6 and kicked out of Congress?
ok on this same line of thinking. What if the government were to be shut down. That would change the rules
yes, I think so. if it goes against the Constitution, it's not going to stay. President Trump knows All the fine print...
DOGE ain't been checking with Congress for any of what it's done so far. You sure on this?

Fraud vitiates everything.

They need the replacement revenue stream in place first. Besides tariffs, we will likely have a National sales tax.
I'm curious as to when Trump will start implementing the ERS like he's mentioned.
I'd say before the 4th of July....
Dims: What about our refunds?
Who would care about a refund this year if there are no income taxes going forward.
All the people who pay no income tax but still get " refunds " via the Earned Income Tax Credit which can be over $10k

When it does finally happen, we should make a holiday out of it!

Their days are numbered.
Maybe not close, but he can fire enough people to make it ineffective.
It's already ineffective. They can't do anything right
