We owe those who legitimately receive food support a selection of food that is at least not harmful. Anything with added sugar and artificial sweeteners should be restricted IMHO.
RFK, Jr. should convene a panel of nutritional experts to come up with a list of foods that can be purchased with EBT cards (food stamps). They should have their own identifier/barcode which would flag the cashier when an item is not covered. Then the EBT only pays for what is acceptable.
The SNAP (food stamp) program is not a social services program as much as it is a farming program. The SNAP budget is in the Farm Bill and has nothing to do with Health and Human Services.
Commodities such as meat, milk, produce, and sugar are subsidized by the Federal Government to control the supply and demand and doing so they used to have agreements with farmers to buy the excess that didn't sell. Instead of the government buying raw materials and making government cheese like they used to in the past now they give the money they would have spent to the people to buy the products. This works out better for everyone because in the past a lot of the raw materials sat in warehouses going to waste before they did anything with it.
Why do the farmers producing beef, milk, eggs, and potatoes get to sell their products to the people using SNAP benefits but the farmers producing sugar don't?
The "food stamps" being spent today were paid for in full two years ago. Less than 60% of the food stamps that we already paid for are issued and spent. The unused 40% get rolled into foreign aid. At least that's what they told me when I became a welfare worker.
Then change the distribution system. Make the cheese, freeze dry any excess eggs, and find ways to streamline and update the systems that are screwing things up. There should be no unhealthy food going to food stamp recipients.
How many poor people today even know how to make a meal from scratch? Start there.

And the schools not only sign them off as participating in an LPIE, but they are encouraging the students to apply.
So many of them are taking classes based on identity. It's disgusting.
This administration needs to bring back the ABAWD rule. Able Bodied Adults without Dependents. It means they only get SNAP for 6 months and if they're not working at the end of the six months then they are cut off.

I went off on him and many working in the school district or knew someone that did at the time were at my back and the asshole left. Didn't even buy his cartfull of groceries.
I think that is what POTUS has in mind giving what FEMA does back to the States, we are not a one size fits all nation. The people in the communities know better than anyone what is needed.
We also need to teach America how to cook again, like you have to put water in the pan to boil and egg. LOL, my dad did that his first week single, blew up all over the ceiling.

These are too often people with three or four stair-step kids in tow, carrying the latest cell phone and with several well-placed tattoos. Where is all the $ coming from?
Because welfare is a generational problem created on purpose to destroy the family unit we need to train people first and turn the system around to encourage two parent households. We only weaken ourselves as a country if we pull the rug on people that have little or no knowledge how to do anything else. This has been started in some big cities with father figures going into communities to engage with the young and protect neighborhoods.
No dead weight, awakened, that is our purpose. to wake up as many as possible. Compassion can go a lot further than throwing your fellow American in the dumpster because they were very misled by the deep state we are fighting. They are going to need real mental health.

This was due to Proposition 13 in Calif., I agreed with the law even though I lost my job, I voted for it. It now has been a blessing that they have to jump through too many hoops to raise taxes.
Get rid of the reason for food stamps first, with Brandon in office many hard working people still had to apply to get help. I know 2 families that went ahead and had their gas shut off, because they could no longer afford it. Trash services also getting shut off. I have been working with my tenants to pay rent, the good ones I lowered their rent. I made it so they could pay on the first or the 15th or even split it. I paid off one of those gas bills above, with a 200 overpay for one above.
I paid my taxes and those that had to have there gas turned off were working very hard. The main one I paid the bill for, the husband was working two jobs and the wife one. They did not by junk, unless you consider food and warm clothing junk. It is our govts responsibility as long as they charge taxes to do it. It used to be normal for it to be community first then if something was just too much, reach out to neighbors.
And deportations and Tariffs will help but pulling the rug out of people that the Gov't has trained is just plain cruel. We need to teach them.
