But if there is a hiring freeze then who at the IRS will be looking at the individual tax returns to see if they were done correctly? Without those IRS agents the tax returns will back up and there will be severe delays in issuing refunds. This will be a debacle, according to the left. Once Musk, DOGE, and they boys begin their audit I doubt it will take 90 days to find fraud. My guess is that after a couple of weeks DOGE will find trillions of dollars of fraud, will President Trump then shut down the IRS? Let's hope so.
Everyone planning to file taxes, get an extension. Do so in April. Extensions are for 6 months. That should be plenty of time for Trump's new tax rules to be in place.
Nothing in the IRS is changing until mid May, so all normal refunds will go out. I only know what is passed down to us, so if the 45k and 90 hold. Couldn't tell ya. But we are doing the 5 bullet points every week amd back in the office now

I know people who filed around mid February an have received refunds.
I filed on Feb 28. I'm getting a refund. I'll let you know (I was told by Turbotax if will take 21 days).

If you claim Earned Income Tax Credit it will take longer to get your refund.

Yes, but you still have to pay any owed taxes when filing the extension - it won't get you out of paying, so why extend?

We got our refund before the end of February. Always file early. Nothing worse than waiting until the last minute
