UPDATE: Rep. Abe Hamadeh to Introduce "Voting Only Through English Act" to Require Election Ballots to be Printed Only in U.S. N...
Rep. Abe Hamadeh is set to introduce the "Vote Act - Voting In English Only," a pivotal legislation spurred by recent federal actions. This proposal could redefine voting protocols across the nation.
I thought citizenship, a requirement for voting, included understand English?!?
Citizenship does included understanding English, but a lot of the Dems voters got their voter registration by being given a drivers license. Which is exactly why all the blue shitholes were giving them DLs whether they could drive or not.
Yep it's shit like states autoregistering people to vote when they get a drivers license and then giving divers licenses to illegals that gets them onto the voter rolls. Then we also have crap like how in IL ballots are available in English, Spanish, Chinese, and even Hindi.
It does.
Which is why when someone IN JURY DUTY stands up and says "no habla ingles" as an excuse to get out of it, he/she should be taken in custody.
And it happens all the time.
Tell that to Puerto Ricans.
Well, if you are a "citizen" I guess you don't have to apply for citizenship??
Why did we United States of America ever need Hawaii [ok a ground aircraft carrier in the Pacific, but as a STATE??] or Puerto Rico [NOT a ground aircraft carrier that we needed.] We let the Philippines go, and there are a lot who are good citizens here. And we don't need them as a State or as citizens.
~We don't need no stinking "colonial" foreign territories as States in our Union!~
Use treaties and allied cooperation. Not acquisition, not granting citizenship.
The Samoans I will say, from military experience, were among the most loyal Americans, along with very many Puerto Ricans serving in the military! And Americans from Cuba. Etc. Etc.
So many peoples can be loyal to America! BUT we don't need to absorb any more States.
well said.
Hey 👋 from Hawaii
GM fren!!
That’s right
You supposed to be us citizen only and valid ID
The demonrats won't vote for this obviously but let's see how many rinos vote against this act.
Wow that’s great ! I pray it goes through !
Ohhh Nooooo.... this is Ray-cyst! - Local media.
Taxachusetts will have to revert to just one ballot now.
I know I've seen Spanish ballots before but according to Grok (emphasis mine):
Abe, now put the DMV tests in English only!
Lol... they'd only hire translators for the ' language challenged' drivers.
national language....national ballot all good ...the Dems will hate it and not pass it...ohhhhh me denying peoples voting rights.....
This is one of those ideas that feels like a good idea, but could have unintended consequences. If it goes through, partisan groups will no doubt offer cheat sheets to help people figure out how to vote. If the interpreters are more radical than the voter, it could make things worse.
Yes. So true. Some of these "fixes" can certainly backfire. And, end up making things worse. But, when do we stop bending over backwards for non-English speaking people?
America is a melting pot true, but the people coming here must learn to assimilate.
That's all fine and dandy but what about paper ballots, hand counts and single day voting?
Yes!! It has to be otherwise all this clean up of a corrupt government is for nothing.
It's a good start.
Can we include a sentence that states every 1 or 2 years the voter registrations must be purged 2 months prior to a federal election?
Now pass the citizenship in English only act.
If you own land and can read English, then you get to vote. Renters don't have any skin in the game. Homeless bums, either. They will just vote for whomever gives them a free cup of soup.
dunno. i've seen many friends decimated by divorce and end up with nothing But the ability to "rent"- I do understand what you mean with the others not having skin in the game and agree but so far as renters. Not to be argumentative at all, but with the way credit scores work and how morals have been flushed down the drain lately, kinda' hard to get ahead to even get so much as a down payment. I went USMC, some not all of what I needed was paid for but there's a large number of people who don't have benefits. Too costly. Every damn thing right now, is too costly. - that cup o' soup thing got me. reminded me of a few friends who wrote that were in college. I'd of loved to have seen their blood work, living off ramen and beer alone.
😕
I really think we should have just a tad more quaifications to vote...
