I believe that is the Trump/Putin plan. They know Zelensky, at the urging of his EU comrades, will break any ceasefire that is negotiated, and that will allow Russia to continue the job of cleaning up Ukraine. And the blame will be placed on Zelensky.
If Tiny man fucks things as he is told to do... I'd love to see Trump ax all aid, telling the EU its there problem and give Putin the green light to march all the way to Kiev.
Yep! He has to publicly denounce NATO membership - I see that as the obstacle. I can't say I disagree with where Putin is coming from with that demand, either. Russia has every right to demand secure borders without "the enemy" at the gate.

So Ukraine didnβt like those particular Ukrainians and was killing them with missiles before Russia did anything. Why not let Russia have them. It seems to solve the problem quite nicely. Except for those who want WW3.

They voted to rejoin Russia. From what I've read, Russia amended its constitution to incorporate those 2 regions back into Russia. Russian constitution considers them Russian with all the rights and protections afforded to every other Russian area and citizen.
Not just those two regions. Also Zaporozhe and Kherson regions. All 4 had conducted plebiscites to rejoin Russia, with massive majorities. Putin is taking for granted that everyone understands that Crimea is Russian.
Those "particular Ukrainian's" just so happen to have been (still are) Russian people's, living in RUSSIAN territory, prior to the annexation of their Russian territory by Ukrainian Soviet Union (USSR) supreme leader https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nikita_Khrushchev during his reign in the 1950's-60's.
After the breakup of the USSR, those territories, and Russian people, were never returned to Russia. Since then, those "particular Ukrainian's" have been treated like shit, beaten, killed, given a status as second-class citizens by those other Ukrainians.
