The duel where he was shot (one of them) was strategic. The man he was fighting insulted his wife. Andy Jackson married a divorced woman, which many people still considered adultery. Jackson wanted to kill the man so he allowed him to fire first, so that he had all the time he needed to line up his shot. After killing his opponent, his doctor told him he could not believe he was still standing after being shot. Jackson replied that he could have been shot in the head and still would have killed him.
So far I know he's responsible for the Indian Removal Act and the Trail of Tears and lots of these treaties were known to be forced upon the people or not deliver what was promised. Maybe I'm conflating various presidencies and the general treatment towards Indians onto Andrew Jackson but an expert in history, I am not and could probably be corrected if wrong.
Agreed. This meme fuels MAGA is racist. That was the reason I couldn't up vote.
I thought those same Indians kept vikings at bay from the tales I have heard. The (assuming God did it) reason they lost to the new settlers was due to mass death from disease IIRC. These were a people well trained in fierceness and war.
The story of Crazy Horse is both beautiful and tragic. A most valiant human being although constantly at odds with the colonizers. And his own people. But to think what was done to the native Americans as a proud moment in our history is shameful.
I hate it when mainstream media portrays conservatives as white supremacists but damnit if some maga folk don't go and bat for them.
Good stuff on Jackson at Mike King's Real News And History website here:

This appeals to the lowest of thinker.
He did some* good for the nation.
His treatment of Native Americans was reprehensible.
I second this. Not cool to backstab Indians.
Can you provide more details how Andrew Jackson "backstabbed Indians"?
