Exactly. All those years of school, probably a pretty big debt, and they only start at 65K. How long will it take them to get to 100K? Even that's not really that much these days.
Me too, actually has several millions banked over the years grown his business and now $$$. Working as an HVAC technician for someone else can provide a living but the REAL money is when they do it on their own.
He helped me install two units in my house. Materials 3500! His labor 1500 which was super cheap for the 4 20 hour days we put in. Local quotes were 13k each unit!
The dude was a machine! 20 hour days and he wouldn’t take a lunch break and climbed into the 120 degree attic like it wasn’t a problem at all!
The 100 hour work week was typical for him. He also wouldn’t buy anything he didn’t absolutely need. He lived in a friggin mobile home and bought used vehicles.
People met him and thought he was a bum.
My neighbor owns his own HVAC company and makes 7 figures in a year. He is a nice guy, sometimes humble brags about the $15,000 AC job he did that day, but did tell us that he can charge higher prices because there are only so many good HVAC people around.
