Nor is it particularly shocking or surprising. A Community that live and work like 19th century farmers is healthier than Modern Sedentary Cubicle Mice, or Factory Rats who regularly consume cheap processed garbage and spend their lives in varying degrees of stress.
They eat better. Use what energy they consume. Have ultimately a natural end to their work day. So they aren’t number crunching expense reports till 3am for a Boss who won’t even read them anyway but still demands them by the start of shift the next day. Or working overtime at the fabricator to get that rush order of parts done. So they’re stressed less and get proper amounts of sleep. Unlike most of the country.
Which means they’ll be sick less, faster turn arounds from illness, and are less prone to stress related conditions, illnesses and complications.
A little known secret is They’ll also still take full advantage of Modern Medicine and Medical Facilities when the situation calls for it. Which handles what problems and sicknesses their homebrew remedies can’t or aren’t as effective at treating.
Most of the country could dramatically improve their health and life expectancy by just getting enough sleep. And telling their bosses that work stays at work. But wider society has decided the grind is more important. So it’s late nights, early mornings, and a shit load of stress. Ironically all For people who don’t care, don’t give a shit about you, and will laugh on their way to the bank while you’re lowered into an early grave.
It would also probably help to normalize eating less. A significant portion of the country still eats like they’re 19th century farmers, sailors, and tradespeople who would need an 8,000 calorie diet of Hearty and Rich Food. But instead are sedentary accountants and factory workers who consume an 8,000 calorie diet of Chemicals, Additives, and cheap fillers. And are regularly stressed on top of it.
I wouldn't mind Amish life minus animal abuse, but i'm soon 67 and no longer able to survive the rugged lifestyle. By the way poor countries also mistreat animals. Camp follower dogs often get served at supper even after hanging around for years.
I wasn't implying the Amish were poor, I was just showing how animal abuse if.s common. Pets are a luxury.
I moved my wife and myself away from our house near her family cause they ate a female dog for the sin of being in heat. Just the young men ate her. My wife's son, cousins and friends. The son lost out because when we moved I no longer paid the bills and bought all the food.
I'm in no way condoning Amish animal abuse, but at the same time if my cat needed a 10,000 operation, well it had a good life up until. My sister a libtard cat lady who lived in unbelievable filth spent a fortune in vet bills on credit and financed funerals for them too.
When I was 10 I had a too soon to be weaned kitten and my POS wife bearing drunk of a stepfather killed it and made me bury it. I might cry but I can bury the cat.

Side note: This is why I have pet insurance. Once an economic joke, pet insurance has come a long way, and gives me the luxury of that 10,000 operation for 10%, which I can finance with Care Credit at no interest for 6 months.
I have watched the Vets' shoulders drop with relief when I interrupt their explanation of options and tell them to do what they think best; the animal is fully insured. I've also spent too many hours in a late-night waiting room with owners putting down animals for financial reasons. It's heartbreaking to hear.
What I mean by luxury is pet health insurance, pet funeral insurance...
!8 years ago I had insurance for me that was excellent and cost what pet insurance does today.
My last dog was 20 years ago, I bought her rabies shot and 3 in 1 shots at a feed store 4 bucks each and administered myself. I fed that dog high quality dog food and cut her nails myself. Would I pay 1,000 bucks for a funneral? Nope, would I spend 1/5th of my lifes savings for an operation? nope
Animals are tools to them, not pets or considered family members. In a more Orthodox Christian society like the Amish, dogs are considered unclean animals. I'm not saying it's right, just trying to explain the "logic" behind their treatment of animals. I wouldn't necessarily say the Amish are heartless when it comes to the treatment of animals. This is also a subject that is hard to broach with them and any attempts at changing their customs is ALWAYS met with disdain because they "know" that our society is wicked beyond belief, which is why they're so guarded against outside influence of any kind.
Their treatment of animals is pretty bad. I don’t like to paint any group with a broad brush but they have a serious problem.
The Amish are just as wicked but their judgement is what sets them apart. It’s going to cost them in the end.
When my daily work meant I was moving a lot and outside every single day, I was thin. I burnt up the calories I ate. Never even gave a thought to what I did eat. No matter what a diet guru says, it will always matter to balance eating with your activity. In fact if you ate a whole pie by yourself and was still active all week after that, you would even gain weight.
Because your metabolism in good working order, by moving enough and often, adjusts to occasional face stuffing.
Country folk work hard with their bodies. As nature designed.
Reportedly according to people who’ve left the community for various reasons. Alcohol is a major problem. At least among some groups and denominations of Amish. Though smoking and illicit drugs are next to non-existent.
But they are and remain an insular religious community. So most of their problems are handled internally so they aren’t brought to the attention of outsiders.
I've been on the receiving end of Amish horses. The ones I've been involved with got off their farms early and were in pretty good shape, but that is the exception. The minute they can't work, they're gone, and they will work them till they drop.
I admire a lot of things about the Amish, but that is from a hazy distance, and not their treatment of animals. Both things can be true at the same time.
The amish here all have smart phones. They use gas lawn mowers and weed trimmers. They ride electric scooters and bikes. They pay to be driven everywhere. They keep ice machines on property. They use solar panels for electric in the barns etc. They shop at Walmart and save a lots and buy junk. Whole carts full of junk poison. I also go to a church where half the people are ex amish. They all say that the abuse and molestation of children In the community is very high. I've lived with these people my entire life. They also drink and smoke. They also don't like black people.
TLDR: It is exactly what you think it is.

They may vote Trump but as dog breeders they are heartless pieces of shit. I wouldnt miss them
I rescued a Greyhound dog once, also 5 and unable to win races.
Waking people up with the flipside of the good, Bravo!

I've had insurance pay out with no upper limit.

I was appalled at animal treatment in the Philippines

So true!
Whole, fresh, chemical free foods and work
Don’t delude yourself. The Amish guys can suck down a pile of monster energy drinks just like the rest of us goys.
No shit? They still grow and consume most of their food instead of the slop "we" eat.
Idk- I see them at Sam’s club and Walmart. They are just people after all,
The don't drink or smoke or do drugs much either.

Vaping is much easier to sneak than regular smoking.
We need to stop glorifying the Amish/Mennonite cult.
They are like the Jews: they create their workarounds. But their laws are man made. The boycott of electricity will not cure their heart of sin.
In fact, many are eating a more American diet. I am seeing more and more overweight Mennonites- particularly women.
Never buy an Australian shepherd from them. Inbred and badly treated. Or, horses. Some (not all) are so rough on these animals.
They need to be treated like everyone else. I see people giving them honor and respect they have not earned simply for being Amish. It’s ridiculous.

Bullshit. The amish where I live, live off of Pepsi, all processed snacks and sugars. They are fat and sick.

So what is the secret 7 things?
They don't let doctors run their health
We need to stop glamorizing the Amish. Yeah, they're Christians. Yeah, they don't like the government.
None of that makes them a model to be emulated.
Constant manual labor does wonders
Good advice then turns infomercial
"Yet they’re leaner, healthier, and live longer than most Americans."
I have to assume you don't actually know many Amish.
