My favorite misuse of statistics is when they claim some huge percent change in something that has an EXTREMELY small likelihood of happening. They'll take something like chance of cancer from something at 0.00006 percent, and then claim a 50% increase when it goes up to 0.00009 percent.
This is why trusting any stat blindly is foolish. People manipulate data all the time.
just trust the scientists, bigot
lol

I couldn’t agree more.
The whole x times more likely is a scam! They use x times more likely because it sounds more dramatic!
Especially in politics—stats are rarely neutral.
If someone shares a political statistic, how can it not be biased?
No one’s out here creating stats that destroy their own beliefs.
People don’t collect data to lose arguments—they collect it to win them.
How do I know you aren’t doing that right now?😉
lol :)
