Very sad news. A Musical Genius who gifted Humanity beautiful music. Happy to have seen him perform. RIP Brian.
Wow that's like to passing of an era for anyone born the the 50's.
Was a big Beach Boys fan in high school, despite them being before my time. One of the few bands I saw in concert multiple times.
Brian led a crazy life that was sometimes self-destructive, but he definitely had some gifts.
Hubby and I love their music. In fact, lately we have turned the TV off at night and put on their music and others of that era. Sad day but we still have the memories. 🙏❤️
Their music always makes me smile and remember simpler times.
Surfer girl is one of the most beautiful songs ever, and brings back memories of those wonderful times of young innocent love.
This is the song I remember listening to when I was a little boy that broke my heart, made me so sad.
The Journeymen - 500 miles (1961)
I think the Wrecking Crew is an unrecognized force in the music of the 60's/70's
Most groups did not play on the own recordings back then. The Wrecking Crew, as they came to be know, was the backing music for most of the hits of this era.
A good story: https://youtu.be/-ZgBexrZvM0
That is sad to hear. I am not a big music fan, but I remember the Beach Boys from Full House. I believe Brian Wilson helped with Jesse and Joey's jingle business.
The best biopic I've seen in recent years was about Brian Wilson, called Love and Mercy. Instead of trying to cram his entire life in two hours, the movie focuses on two specific time periods; his creation of Pet Sounds and his relationship with Dr. Landy in the 1980's. Paul Dano plays the younger Wilson and is spectacular, as is Paul Giamatti as Dr. Landy. John Cusack damn near ruined the movie by playing the older Brian like Lloyd Dobler 2.0, but the storytelling and Dano's performance made me overlook it.
A true musical genius. RIP.
That Landy was an absolute snake
I hear music. 🙏♥️
The beach boys were friends with Charles mills Manson and stated in interviews that they started the family together apropos of nothing. They partied together all summer of 1967 sleeping with underage girls, as young as 13, providing those same girls to other celebrities. Carol Wilson had a private investigator take pics of them during this time that she used to pressure Wilson during divorce proceedings. They suspected Manson in the Sharon Tate murders but stayed silent instead of cooperating with police potentially allowing Manson and his followers to murder many more victims before finally being arrested months later. Denis Wilson was about to write a book about it just before he mysteriously died. All of Hollywood knew as they were banned from parties, nightclubs and restaurants. Long and the short of it is that they were involved with a satanic pedophile sex trafficking cult from the beginning.
The entire Laurel Canyon scene is sketchy.
