If I were of a certain culture, I'd take exception to the stupid name, "Juneteenth" because it collectively makes everyone in that culture look stupid all at once.
It's bullshit, but you do realize, Biden made it a legit federal holiday. Paid time off by government workers and everything.
I have no idea if there is even accurate historic origins for it or whether they just picked a day that always lands during the week and not on the weekend so they can get paid time off.
I know the rest of working America does not get paid time off for Juneteemf.
I'd like to see all the graphics that make warm weather look like the apocalypse go away. I want my smiling suns with sunglasses back, I want the happy pleasant colors back not these harsh reds and oranges making an 80 degree day look like armageddon.
It is recognized here in the Greater Houston area yearly which is fine as the last black slaves found out there were free in Galveston. IMO it doesn't rise high enough to be a national holiday, but that wasn't the point. Making it a national holiday is just another effort by the Demoncrats to divide the races.
Do you think Mothers Day or Fathers Day affect more people than a juneteenth? I have sent several outraged emails to the NWS website about why they purposely dishonor parents and still have never received a reply. BTW they did rename the gulf to America as it should have been.

Well, for a purely selfish reason, I think it's great. It just so happens that it is also my birthday : ). As for the nature and politics of it, I'm pretty sure that Independence Day covers freedom.

Not 100% correct - the stock exchanges are closed on the federal holiday. So trading companies and some bankers presumably are off as well.
But my understanding was no one cared that much about the holiday - it was either very localized, or insignificant.

How did June 19 become a holiday? Was it voted on by congress or did some un-named "official" say it's a holiday?

Plus, they miss the forecast EVERYDAY. It's become a comedy bit for us.
