For the entire history of human civilization, it's always been the case where the powerful make the rules. All being "fair" does is weaken you, while your adversary becomes stronger.
Think about 10 wrestlers in a cage match with only one winner. Which wrestler is planning to be "fair"?
So what? Somebody had to be the first one to shoot a firearm. Somebody had to be the first one to fire a cannon. It goes down the line for every development of military technology. There is no issue of "being first."
Or do you wish to have prolonged wars where the dead will continue to pile up?
You don't answer my question, so why should I answer yours? Especially since your question is fatuous.
The implication of your question is that we should all go back to spears and shields. You might like to consider that in the time frame of interest, Germany, Japan, and Russia were all researching nuclear weapons. That would have been an "interesting" world to live in.
The more countries that have nukes, the more likely they're going to get used.
Thus it's first come first serve and those that have them get to say who gets them.
Iran is CIA/Safari Club so no one with a functioning brain should ever want them to have a nuke, we've been extremely lucky dirty bombs haven't been used possibly because fissile material is highly traceable and if any came out of Iran it'd be turned into a nice new Persian glass bowl.
The greatest risk of Israel using nukes is in self-defense. The greatest risk of North Korea using nukes is in self-defense.
Iran has been a hostile country since the last revolution. Everybody and their dog knows they have their foot soldiers on the ground in other countries, so why would anyone trust them with the ultimate in firepower. They'll use it because they've proven they have no self control.
Israel might be slimey as fuck, but they have self control. They've managed to orchestrate a lot of situations where on the table they look like the good guy.
North Korea has self control.
India and Pakistan, I'd like it if they'd never gotten nuclear weapons, but both can exhibit self-control.
The lack of critical thinking on this issue is case and point why the world has gotten into the state it is. 20+ years ago none of this needed explaining. Now it needs spoon feeding to the dribbling fluorided masses.
I agree with what you say---aside from the first line, which is a redressing of the anti-Second-Amendment argument against civilian ownership of guns ("there will be bloodbaths in the streets"). No problem with the use of nuclear weapons, so far.
The rulers of Iran belong to a Muslim sect that believes their “messiah” will come once Israel has been destroyed. Until they have the means (nuclear?), they will use their terror proxies to convince the world Israel is evil. (This is the gist of a conversation I heard yesterday—1 woman and 2 men). Not sure if it was led here or elsewhere.
u/thephantom1979 : It isn't about nukes,it is about the claim Iranian teocratic morons are trigger happy morons wanting to use it against israhell.
While it is of course possible the fact is rather:
Why would Iranian regime use it (if they wouldn't be cabal and jewish agents) - this would ruin them too. Nukes are better as kind of "fleet in waiting" kind of weapon than as real weapon.
Iran having nukes = more countriers on middle east getting it too. Especially secular monarchies like Sauds.
That means Israhell would have no more advantage against the arabs they like to bully and destabilize for their own gain ("greater israell" idea of jewish nazis).
3.That unfortunately also means also advantage of the USA would be smaller and everything would get more risky if everybody goes nuclear there.
However in long therm nuclear Israhell ruining its neighbors with impunity is larger problem,as situation where only Israhell has nukes on middle east = criminal having gun, and everybody having nukes looks like potential for the problem level: mexican gangs getting more guns than people in Texas have.
I would. Silly question to ask if answer is obvious.
But I wouldn't be astonished others, especially those who have it and want me under their boot would not like it. And I wouldn't for sure threat to use it against them before I have it.
And
You missed the point. I explained it above. It is all about subjugation and control.
BUT Iran government made it easier as they already lost propaganda war as they become framed as "crazy regime of religious fanatics". Most probably because: a) Their leaders are moSSad agents b) Their leaders are absolute imbeciles, morons working hard to get Darwin's award. I guess it is rather answer "a",as even north korea got more allies and have propaganda working better.
Seems to have been the happy fate of all the other countries in the Western Hemisphere. No one fears the U.S. nuking them, despite disagreements and antagonisms. No one was threatening Iran. They had their missile war with Iraq, but neither of them used nukes. I doubt they are fearful of Pakistan or India or Russia.
Your question has plenty of "yes" answers. So, logically, it is an open question.
When people talk about "self-control"... yeah, but the U.S. actually used a nuke.
Look, if you're the leader of a country and you see others stockpiling nuclear weapons—especially one that already used one in war—are you really going to say:
"Well, they’re the mighty U.S. They’re better than us. Let’s just trust them with all the nukes while we do nothing."
Be honest—no leader thinks that way.
Self-preservation beats blind trust every time.
There is nothing in any moral code to prevent the use of nuclear weapons in battling an aggressor in a desperate war. The hypocrisy in this topic is from those who decry the use of nuclear weapons, but have nothing to say about the fire-bombing of Tokyo, which took far more lives. And everyone omits the rape and depredation of Japan against China and Southeast Asia as being a matter of account.
As for nuclear weapons, in my view it is like trying to corral the invention and production of gunpowder. Futile to do so. Better to come up with superior defense technology.
Depends on the relationships between the countries, their technical capacity, and the range capabilities. We have no fear of the UK, France, Israel, Pakistan, or India. Neither Canada nor Mexico have developed nukes, nor anyone in Central or South America. Plenty of alphabet countries in our hemisphere who have not developed nukes, so your syllogism is not universal.
Don't mistake me. I think keeping nations from nuclear weapons is as futile as keeping them from gunpowder.
It is perfectly valid to lecture someone on a path we know something about. It depends on what the lecture is about.
Nobody ever said it's about fairness.
For the entire history of human civilization, it's always been the case where the powerful make the rules. All being "fair" does is weaken you, while your adversary becomes stronger.

It's about the ask. We actually used a NUKE!
That's the issue here.
So what? Somebody had to be the first one to shoot a firearm. Somebody had to be the first one to fire a cannon. It goes down the line for every development of military technology. There is no issue of "being first."
Or do you wish to have prolonged wars where the dead will continue to pile up?
Ahh.. so we are Gods right?
Gotcha

Logically... if you were a leader of a country. And you saw other countries stocking up on Nukes.
Would you just let that happen without trying to develop your own?

My point here.
Do not lecture other countries when we have used them in the past. It's basic logic here.
If Country A develops Nukes. Then Countries B, C, D will also do the same.
Depends on the relationships between the countries, their technical capacity, and the range capabilities. We have no fear of the UK, France, Israel, Pakistan, or India. Neither Canada nor Mexico have developed nukes, nor anyone in Central or South America.
