I'm gonna be that guy and ONCE AGAIN say, we already knew this. This has been going on for 20 years. Cameras were even found in older tvs that never advertised they contained cameras.
That's why I drive cars with not electronic crap in it. 2000 Ford F-150 dumber than a post and I like it that way. Plus if you do online banking, think about who actually has control of your money. If your bank gets hacked, then poof, your entire money stash might just vanish into the etherworld. Yea, you might get it back from SPIC and other such agencies, yet they will fight you tooth and nail to prove up what you actually had in their bank.
I've taken my LG OLED apart, trying to fix the network card. I didn't see a microphone anywhere. It is in the remote control. If it is that much of a worry, pop the remote open and pluck out the mic. Now do every other device in your possession, you will forget some. Unfortunately it has become impossible to eliminate every listening device in our modern way of life.
The selling- or, as they call it "sharing" of consumer data is all illegal, regardless of the end user agreements associated with data services, because it is all founded on fraud. End users cannot enter into their "end user agreements" in good faith, because the true monetary value of our data assets is never disclosed to the end user. Therefore it is an agreement made in bad faith- also known as fraud.
That’s a lot of chatter to sort through. It’s funny though, as an experiment the spouse and I, by prior agreement discussed buying a golf cart in the TV room. (as if) Sure enough we were barraged with ads for golf carts in our inboxes and our browsing. Now I pointedly discuss religious topics within earshot of the TV. Sort that ya bass turds!
