I had a stroke last week and looking for support with related issues. i.e, vertigo, tube feeding, Dysphagia & acid reflux.
are you still in the hospital? I had a severe 'brain bleed' nine years ago this week!!✨
they actually sent me home the first time I went to hospital; didn't do a CT scan.
they gave me acid reflux medicine because in my delirium I thought I had food poisoning🥴
I'm home fren. 4 CTs, 1 MRI, 3 Xrays, Food tube installed. Start using the feeding tube tonight.
good sign that you're home! I remember they had me on the feeding tube until I could visit with the SLP, then I could have Anything wanted. funny how they didn't worry about diet.
everything changes with the stroke, so I gave up trying to be like I 'used to'...it forces you to slow down, and that's So awesome! as for headaches, etc, they still come & go, but not as much 🐸✨
use it to your advantage. tell people you need to take care of yourself, so they'll just have to wait.
and if you have Any idea of signing up for SSDI, do it Now, and get some assistance with the paperwork so you skip the denials...there are people who specialize in such things.

Social Security Disability Insurance. It's for people that have worked & paid in to SS. You get a certain amount based on your wages. but it's known to take a long time, so if you think you might not be able to return to work, it's good to apply early. there are 'advocates' out there that can help fill out the paperwork to avoid the almost certain SS denial.
Interesting. I didn't know about that. Thanks for the heads up. I sure as hell can't drive anymore and barely being able to walk seems like a disability to me.
you're welcome:) it was all a big shock to me/I like to share. and you'll need documentation, so keep track of all the individual changes, how they make it difficult to complete tasks. etc. example; I'm still able to drive, but I can't write legibly or handle stress, that really affected my ability to teach.
Oh friend… that’s one area. I don’t have a lot of advice for, but I’ll be praying for. 🙏 the Lord is the great physician and he can’t heal you. In the meantime, press into him.
Ps. For acid reflux don’t take the medicine they give you from the doctor. Just use baking soda and water once a day. But make sure you get the red mill brand because it doesn’t have all the metals in it. You can get it from Amazon. Not all the local grocery stores carry it.
