Adrenochrome can be made from an epi-pen apparently. If that is all it is then there would be no need to spend all that money and kill humans for it.
This makes more sense because adrenaline at higher levels is very low in pre-adolescents. You'd get so much more oxidized adrenaline naturally from adults that it would be foolish to rely on children.
