The locals are always ‘Never Sure Why’. Because to admit otherwise is admitting at least some of the communities problems are self-inflicted and can’t be blamed on a 3rd party. Such as the Banks, Government etc.
It’s a weird phenomenon you see in some places. Where by any metric the community sucks, and the locals agree it sucks. But they’re steadfastly and autistically opposed to taking any sort of constructive effort to make it not suck. Because then that involves admitting some degree of personal responsibility for their situation. So they rather take pride in and revel in their miserable situation and continue scraping by collecting assistance checks.
Whether it’s the worst ghetto in Chiraq or an economically depressed drug infested rural dump where the crackheads will strip anything left unattended for scrap. And the handful of businesses clinging to life are surrounded by Chainlink and Razor Wire.
Flies always gravitate to the biggest pile of SH*T.
