Back in 2011-2012 that was part of what I did. That is a super easy query to run. Takes about 30 seconds. They can pull all the paperwork that goes with it too, including the award certificate. Bronze stars are signed off at the Pentagon so 100% for certain that if he got one, there will be a record of it. If he didnt, they would know. It is also listed on all of your DD214-DD215 Active service Discharge form. There is a block toward the bottom of the form where every official award (medal) you ever got is listed.
