So I picked up a free copy of Hunt for Red October (copyright 1984) yesterday... I don't recall the Subs political officer being named "Putin" in the movie...
It pissed me off that Prime screwed up "No Remorse". That was one of the best books I've read, but they had to change Clark to be black.
I can't remember who did the Joe Pickett series, but the did the same thing there. In the book, Nate Romanowski was this big blonde haired nature boy (Romanowski, right?), but in the series, they made him black. My wife and I thought the series was still OK in spite of that, but I feel like if they had just stuck to the books, that series would still be on the air.
Been reviewing all the Tom Clancy movies & shows lately... LOTS of COMs and DECLAS in those films...
The Hunt for Red October. 1990
Patriot Games. 1992
Clear and Present Danger. 1994
OP Center. 1995
NetForce. 1999
The Sum of All Fears 2002
Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit 2014
Tom Clancy's Jack Ryan (Prime video) 2018
Read the books...
Ya... Time is the issue on that. Not enough...
I'll read 3 paragraphs and transition to studying the back of my eyelids...
Zzzzzz

Same...I just become too aware of the fact that my body is sitting motionless, staring at black & white words in this object I'm holding...can't focus

It's in both the book and movie:
Here
A few more "documentaries" (not from Clancy tho):
Wag the Dog (1997) - G0v cover-ups and false flags
Enemy of the State (1998) - G0v Surveillance
Man on Fire (2004) - Child trafficking
Wag the Dog is the first thing I thought of when the Ukraine/Russia war broke out.
fits perfectly doesn't it?
Another show thst probably has more truth than fiction is The Man in the High Castle.
