I think it is the group of employees that took a buyout in May. They were getting paid through Sept.
That is the case.
The media including many conservative outlets are portraying it as a protest resignation over the shutdown.
Really it’s the people who already took the buyout and severance.
In 1990 the US gov’t employed 3.4 million employees. By 2014 it was 2.7 million Federal employees. As of now it is around 2 million. 100,000K is a drop in the bucket! I am sure there are many young American citizens who may like to serve if any need replacing!
100K out of 2M is 5%
Still a small amount.
