Welcome to General Chat - GAW Community Area
This General Chat area started off as a place for people to talk about things that are off topic, however it has quickly evolved into a community and has become an integral part of the GAW experience for many of us.
Based on its evolving needs and plenty of user feedback, we are trying to bring some order and institute some rules. Please make sure you read these rules and participate in the spirit of this community.
Rules for General Chat
-
Be respectful to each other. This is of utmost importance, and comments may be removed if deemed not respectful.
-
Avoid long drawn out arguments. This should be a place to relax, not to waste your time needlessly.
-
Personal anecdotes, puzzles, cute pics/clips - everything welcome
-
Please do not spam at the top level. If you have a lot to post each day, try and post them all together in one top level comment
-
Try keep things light. If you are bringing in deep stuff, try not to go overboard.
-
Things that are clearly on-topic for this board should be posted as a separate post and not here (except if you are new and still getting the feel of this place)
-
If you find people violating these rules, deport them rather than start a argument here.
-
Feel free to give feedback as these rules are expected to keep evolving
In short, imagine this thread to be a local community hall where we all gather and chat daily. Please be respectful to others in the same way
Rules For the rest of the Site also accessible on the sidebar.

YouTube has started pushing a new parameter on their videos that gives them additional tracking capabilities.
Be sure to remove &si= from YouTube links.
u/GreatAwakening
good tip, thanks, they’ve also been recommending some videos of people who look female but say they have male chromosomes. If so, then it’s not normal and it would be RFK Jr. topic to clean up and get rid of whatever toxins, chemicals and pharmaceuticals that lead to such …
Youtube also started rolling out AI age vertification here in the US.
is this why YouTube videos aren't posting properly?
Possibly related to, but it shouldn’t be a direct cause.
They could easily be jacking with embed rendering on certain sites.
ah I see. thanks fren

Had to take my little toddler to the ER yesterday possible broken thumb but he was all good praise be to Jesus.
Anyway it felt like all the workers were liberals. I was wearing my crucifix front and center and the PA told my son he is all good and can go back to being a terrorist?!!
Not the word I'd use with a little boy but these people are mental
You should definitely file complaint and take this all the way.
here’s how China treats followers of Christ https://www.globalchinacenter.org/analysis/i-stand-with-christ-7rl8g
and how much does this medical staff love China with his x-ray machines having electronics components from China
A powerful story of Faith through suffering! 🙌
Yeah definitely not the brightest crayons in the box. 😷
I agree with bb...file a complaint..
u/bubble_bursts, have you seen this new Linux distro called Omarchy? I think it's something up your alley cuz it runs off Arch Linux, has a couple of AI on it like ChatGPT, SuperGrok and has a lot of developer tools like Javascript, Ruby on Rails and so on.
I think it's stunningly beautiful, simple and comfty to use. I haven't installed it myself, but I was watching David Heinemeier Hansson's (DHH) introduction to Omarchy as he's the one who developed the OS. He's also the same one who came up with Ruby on Rails.
If you haven't, check it out: https://omarchy.org/
Looks beautiful, thanks, I will check out out. Btw, have you tried codex?
No, I'm not a programmer/coder and frankly, I have zero interest in A.I. lol
I know I need to at least learn one programming language since I'm using Linux. Last I learned some of a programming language was PERL and I have completely forgotten PERL now. I should maybe start learning Python, I guess? Unless you have any recommendations?
Oh boy. PERL. I used to use it extensively for a long time. Only realised it was a satiation torture technique after Python came along lol.
Yeah Python is definitely the way to go. But wait. Hold on a second.
If you already know Linux, codec is perfect for you. If you can do things like install software, run complex commands, understand the file system, etc you can use codec to generate whatever your dream apps are without writing or understanding a single line of code
When i started off, being a coder, i would obsessively review the code it writes to see if is doing a good job. It was. Bud add i started writing more and more complex apps, these days i don’t even know what language is writing in lol.
I now spend all my energy thinking about what my app needs to do and what the user expects etc rather than code. Best part is that, right now, if you have a paid account you don’t have to pay per use! You can write as many apps as you want with the fixed monthly fees!
Actually when I was majoring in I.T., I was concentrating in Networking and Sys Admin. I know I should at least learn some programming, but for some reason, I struggled big time with programming as far as developing apps or whatever on my own. I can debug some parts but I can't really debug the whole thing because sometimes I get "programmer's block" (similar to "writer's block").
I forgot what loop it was but it was something like x=1, x+1 or whatever it was and it was supposed to be a counter but for some reason, it wasn't registering with me. I've studied it for a long time but I couldn't understand it at all. Two of my friends in college, tried explaining it to me but I still can't grasp the concept of that loop. Funny thing tho, my two friends are bad at math while I'm good at math, yet I'm bad at programming while my two friends are good at programming...
Anyways, I learned Visual Basic, C++, a little of Java, then PERL, which was the last language I learned before finishing college and it was for my Linux class, a core class for Sys Admin.
With Linux, I know the commands to do this and that and how to set things up but as far as programming/coding goes, I'm bad. But I think I will give Python a try and hopefully the material will finally become clear for me.
Thanks for letting me know about Codex, tho!

I like collecting stuff. one thing I would like to collect next year would be a auto-pen silver coin that is minted by the US Mint. --yes I would want it to say something like 81 million votes or 46th President --
Anyone on here who buys HCQ regularly from any of these online Rx stores without a Rx, can you please recommend one that will ship quickly?
I used to use alldaychemist.com but they are saying the shipments may be delayed or won't go through due to "Trump's Tariffs" and customs not accepting any packages. They've been the cheapest I could find but the shipment takes between 1 and 2 months to arrive.
I'm willing to give a different provider a try, even if it cost a bit more than alldaychemist but I'd like to also have my shipment here within 2 weeks to a month, if possible.
Try reynoldsmeds?
I did consider them, but I remember reading somewhere in the comments when they were brought up and someone said you gotta call this person (Dave? Ryan?) to get the order to go through.
I'm deaf and I'm not sure if I will be able to call that person cuz whenever I call a place, like a pizza place for example, they always hang up on me cuz they think I'm calling to sell stuff. They didn't understand that I'm using a special service called the relay service, where there's the operator serving as "Man in the Middle", conveying messages between me and the other party.
If I'm successful in placing an order with them, how soon will I get the package? On the website, they said they will ship it out as soon as 22 days.
I have questions, now that the Goverment is shut down, is the DOJ shutdown? Is ICE shutdown? Are the dems trying to stall justice?
lol I put that into AI for you
When the U.S. federal government shuts down, not every agency stops working. It depends on whether their work is considered “essential” (excepted) or if they rely on annual appropriations from Congress. Here’s how your questions fit:
⚖️ Department of Justice (DOJ)
Not fully shut down.
Many DOJ employees (including federal prosecutors, FBI agents, U.S. Marshals) are classified as essential for public safety and national security, so they continue working.
Civil cases may be delayed, and some non-urgent administrative functions pause until funding is restored.
🛂 Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE)
ICE continues operations during shutdowns.
Enforcement officers, detention facilities, and immigration court cases involving detained individuals are considered essential.
Some support services (like hiring, training, or administrative processes) may be slowed or paused.
🏛️ Are Democrats stalling justice?
A government shutdown usually stems from budget disputes between Congress and the White House, not specifically an attempt to stall justice.
DOJ criminal enforcement and ICE enforcement continue regardless of shutdown.
What does stall are areas like civil litigation, immigration processing (for non-detained cases), and grant programs — but that’s due to lack of funding, not deliberate delay of justice.
✅ Summary: DOJ and ICE keep running in their core law enforcement roles even during a shutdown. Justice isn’t “turned off,” but some slower-moving, non-urgent functions get paused.
So basically the most important departments still operate. Those are the only ones that matter right now. I say shut the whole blame thing down. I would be quite satisfied with that. Maybe some arrests can take place.
Politico has this article up, it's revealing. This is part of the article below. There is a link to the archived copy.

Donald Trump’s attempt to jawbone Microsoft into firing former Biden DOJ official Lisa Monaco as a top D.C. operative has put K Street on high alert about who they hire.
Much of the private sector is paralyzed by Trump’s broader efforts to leverage the might of the government to bend companies to his whims. But that pressure is magnified in government affairs shops across Washington, where corporations are desperate to curry Trump’s favor and avoid his wrath.
“Anything that comes across my desk now is like, ‘What Republican can we hire? And is the Republican MAGA?’” said Jeff Forbes, a founding partner at the lobbying firm Forbes Tate Partners. The job market is so precarious in the Trump era, he added, that it’s been tough for even moderate Republicans to get land [sic] a big influence job in Washington, let alone Democrats.
In a town where political connections to whomever is in power amount to currency, it’s not unusual for corporate lobbyists to cycle out of prominent roles when their party loses power. But “to have a target on your back because of past political affiliation in what has traditionally been a very nonpartisan area is a totally new dynamic,” said one veteran Democratic consultant. – Politico
I especially like this paragraph. 😂
"Anything that comes across my desk now is like, ‘What Republican can we hire? And is the Republican MAGA?’” said Jeff Forbes, a founding partner at the lobbying firm Forbes Tate Partners. The job market is so precarious in the Trump era, he added, that it’s been tough for even moderate Republicans to get land [sic] a big influence job in Washington, let alone Democrats."
What is the reason for the generals response to Trump yesterday?
