I have noticed a big difference between the caliber of many foreigners coming into this country from how they were decades ago. Years ago they were at least respectful and polite, even when they were here illegally. This generation of foreigners is arrogant, militant, and aggressive. Their attitude is entitled and they have no respect for our laws, our way of life, or of America and its citizens. They want to take advantage of what we have to offer, all while looking down at us. Most have no reservations about expressing their contempt for us and this country. Then they cry foul when they are called out on their BS behavior and contempt.
The previous generations of migrants, illegal and legal, desired to be American and wanted to participate in America. It was the whole reason for coming here - even if they were fleeing persecution. I knew many that worked very hard to become part of the American fabric. They raised their children to be proud Americans and to appreciate this country and what it stood for. They defined themselves as being American and not as citizens of another country. They were determined to learn English so they could fit in. Their cultural differences added to the flavors blended in American society which made us all culturally richer. That is not the case with the majority of these people now coming into our country.
These current generations of foreigners have attitudes that are not the same as those that preceded them. They only want to take advantage of the benefits of living in a free country that is generous to a fault, selfishly without contributing to America itself. At the same time, they demand recognition by their identities affiliated with their country of origin and have no desire to assimilate. They don't want to be a part of America, but they want to live separated from it. Many never learn English but continue to live as if within a foreign country on American soil - some even try to bypass American law and follow their own separate legal frameworks. They will however, resort to abusing the American legal system when it is to their advantage.
I have even heard some of them say that America is stupid for allowing them to come here to game our system. They brag about defrauding social benefits and even voting in our elections. The insults in a way are sadly well deserved. These attitudes have been a major factor in finally tipping the scales when it comes to how we feel about these latest waves of foreigners. We have been stupid with our handling of people looking for a handout instead of a helping hand. Now that we are withdrawing that hand and are instead slapping them down with it, they scream discrimination and abuse. These people are in desperate need of a major change in attitude. Who doesn't want a better life for themselves and their families? But that should not be the main motivation for being allowed to stay here. If you don't want to be American and contribute to THIS country and what we stand for, then there is no place for you here. Stay where you are along with your bad attitude. America does not need you.

On public assistance, they pulled up to the office driving newer high end vehicles, BMWs and Escalades. The teenagers were in designer jeans and expensive shoes. Even a tweener would be sporting a brand new iPhone. They would be abusive to the staff making all kinds of demands. Their arrogance was off the charts.
Many times I resisted picking up the phone and reporting them for Medicaid fraud. They would actually forget what name they used to originally register for the office. They use several names to pull off their scams. The immigrant front staff were frustrated and asked themselves why the hell were they working and busting their butts while these illegals were living the high life on the public dime. I realized that nothing would happen to the illegals and that the office would probably lose its Medicaid insurance approval - it was not my practice. I did not want to take the chance of impacting jobs for the staff so I didn't call. I would hope that with the changes of late that at least in some places things may be changing. But, I don't see that happening in my State any time soon.
