Only if you take too much. People know that it can kill you and therefore overdose is quite common and you sometimes see them in the ER and the ones I have seen made it through after antidote and a short stay in hospital. Where I live they have taken them of shelves in supermarkets to prevent suicide attempts; I don't know if it has had an effect yet.
An adult can take the prescribed amount for years without change in tests when looking at the liver. I know. I am a physician and I have lots of patients that use it regurarly and I have never seen liver failure caused by normal use.
Yeah, a lot of drugs have the same amount of paracetamol in them because it works great in combination with morphines/opiates.
Still, it is not dangerous if you don't take too much. Probably both patients and physicians are to be blamed for those unintentional; the physician should be very clear on combining the drugs and shouldn't even prescribe things with paracetamol to some patients.
I never prescribe them to older patients that can have earlier stages of dementia (and I don't precribe them to some because of whom they are, many are that stupid why I don't even try to explain the dangers of combining therapeutics)
My rheumatologist has given me a strict dose mg limit per 24 hours. I often take 2 arthritis strength acetaminophen with 1/2 the lowest dose Norco. It gives several hours of decent relief from RA pain. You can’t just pop them like candy through the day. 4 arthritis strength acetaminophen is the limit. I don’t use alcohol at all and my RA medication is not liver friendly so I am extremely careful. Liver function tests are always good.
The supplement n-acetyl cysteine is the antidote hospitals use to give to patients who overdose. It prevents liver damage due to tylenol overdose. You can get it at an online supplement site such as Vitacost.com. Or a drug store. I keep it at home for other reasons.
Tylenol always made me sick as a kid so I refused to take it. That turned out to have saved my life as when I was in my thirties I fouund out I was born with only one kidney.
Had a visit to the ER today, and was offered a shot of liquid Tylenol. They looked at me like I was an idiot when I refused, and even the wife was saying I should take it. I held my ground. I'm not putting their poison in me.
I used herbal, homeopathic and oils. Try my hands on acupuncture some but need professional help.
Herbal and homeopathic takes care of most thing for me. My 19 year old dog can hike 9-10 miles just this Sunday because of what he is taking. Of course, exercise and good food help.
With naproxen, you can take less pills, and it lasts longer. The only time I ever used Tylenol was when I took Excedrin. Because it had caffeine in it and I needed it to be immediate relief and I needed to continue to work. Other than that Tylenol was the last choice I’d ever use for a pain reliever. Yes, the Temple nose. I’m using talk to text and that’s how it spelled it out. 😂 if you know you nose 😂
I will use Ivermectin and Fenbendazole (pharma drugs) if I need them to do a protocol for cancer or something. At the mean time, if I want to do parasite cleanse, I use DE, black walnut or Artemesia.
Again, I have no idea what this has to do with the topic and the fact that Ivermectin is ALSO made by Big Pharma.
So if Big Pharma is powerful enough to keep a dangerous drug like Tylenol on the shelves, then they're powerful enough to put a safe drug like Ivermectin on the shelves.
They can't simultaneously be both powerful enough for A, and impotent enough for B...
I tried to tell some friends that Tylenol posted on their Twitter/X page back in 2017 that Tylenol was not safe or recommended for pregnant women to take. They didn't believe me and I encouraged them to check for themselves. They refused to do so. They said, "Well they're just trying to cover themselves." And I said, "Gee I wonder why, couldn't have anything to do with the fact that they themselves know that their product is not safe for pregnant women?" They just looked at me like I was speaking a foreign language. Some people will really never wake up.
Well, I can tell you a story about chronic pain. #1 Chronic pain prevents you from functioning on many levels of your life.#2 With the so called opiod crisis, safe pain medications, used properly, do cause dependence, but if the pain is chronic, such as RA, Lupus, degenerative disc disease, you need to take it every single day.#3 NSAIDS, which work very well, will eventually ruin your gut, create mast cell increase in the intestines, and lead to a nasty condition called Mast Cell Activation Syndrome, I know, I have it, I used Advil for years due to injuries, sciatica, endomitriosis, it kept me being able to work for 30 years, until it did not. So, after a tooth extraction, or bad headaches, or other manageable pains, Tylenol is the only option. Maybe younger people can tough out the pain, but chronic or acute pain costs a person work hours and money. Even a cushy sit in your chair all day job will be affected by pain. On a managed day, my pain level on that stupid chart is never fully eliminated, and I take Tramadol 2x a day for 10 years now, my use of cannabis has helped me not have to ever increase the dose, but sometimes after a busy day of housework, at the age of 75, I need the bump from it. It infuriates me that someone somewhere is judging how my pain needs to be controlled, due to junkiess misusing medication, but that is how it is. The liver damage of Tylenol is from overuse, frequent use, and why is that done? Because of the inability now to treat pain because of controlled regulations. I asked my doctor why the withholding of pain meds from cancer patients and old ladies like me with autoimmune issues and bone on bone arthritis is helpful. It is not like I am going to ruin my life, or drop out of school, or whore myself on the street to get a hit.
I have looked at all the safe ones, With MCAS, I can react to many things that were once safe to me. For instance, one doses of Mylanta one night when I had raging esophagus spasms due to drinking some tomato juice and eating bacon, I was in so much pain, I ended up in the ER in anaphylaxis, hives completely covered my body and I was vomiting. I was a person who had "no known allergies" except for gluten. MCAS is a chronic disease, what I can take safely is what works. I do not use it that often, but what I eat and what is safe is a narrow window. I am also very interested in why they keep saying Tylenol instead of Acetaminophen. Targeting the named brand.
FFS its still on the shelf because mostly its a safe pain killer. There are no problems if adults take Tylenol and follow the direction.
Every single drug on the shelves cause one problem or another so what should they do remove all the medicines we have access too?
NIH actually pegs Tylenol as the number 1 cause of liver failure in the US, as well as the second leading cause of liver transplants worldwide.

Rather ironically, the NIH infomation I was quoting even has a little blurb about suicidal versus non-suicidal overdose statistics.
"Notably, around 50% of these poisonings are unintentional, often resulting from patients misinterpreting dosing instructions or unknowingly consuming multiple acetaminophen-containing products."
So it's saying people are too stupid to read
Are you suprised?
Yeah, a lot of drugs have the same amount of paracetamol in them because it works great in combination with morphines/opiates.

The problem is too much Tylenol is just 2 pills past recommended dose. Where ibuprofen is 10x higher ... or 10x safer.

I used to take Tylenol when I had colic (young) and now I have liver problems.

The only one I used is Aleve.
Does it work for migraines like Advil?
I have to use Aleve.
Tylenol always made me sick as a kid so I refused to take it. That turned out to have saved my life as when I was in my thirties I fouund out I was born with only one kidney.
Do be conscientious about NSAIDs also, they can restrict blood flow to the kidneys when taken in prolonged periods of time.
Overuse of NSAIDs tore up my stomach years ago, took a while to recover, but I still avoid them.
I don't take any pills for any reason generaly.
Oh wow, how did you find that out?
car acident, they did an ultrasound. Oh hey something is missing! The doc asked if I had any big scars or have ever been to south America.
Oh wow, found it by accident. amazing.

You'd be an idiot to take it even if it was 100% completely safe, ER's gonna charge a hell of a lot more than a bottle from Wally-World.
Been using only medical cannabis for general ache and pain relief for years now.
But half of yall aren't ready to have that conversation.
I have other products such as Arnica or Bryonia. I have a rubbing cream with Cannabis and Arnica combined. Works well.
I’ve never been a fan of Tylenol. I always use naproxen. Weird.
Me too. I have never liked Tylenol for some reason. We know or our temples know.
With naproxen, you can take less pills, and it lasts longer. The only time I ever used Tylenol was when I took Excedrin. I nose. LOL
Alleve?
Yes 👍
Indict, try, convicted, and sentence every legislator, and staff, paid by Big Pharma.
Amen. I agree.
All of them are bad no cures and a lot permanent side effects.,
That's right. Hence I use natural products.
Correct, I have been using natural products since 2010
Much better for you. Amen.
Yep
Just pointing out that Ivermectin is ALSO produced by Big Pharma, so....🤷♀️ Kind of disproves that theory.
I don't know why so many people seem to be under the impression ivermectin is whipped up in Ma Kettle's kitchen...
I also use DE and Artemesia for parasite.
Ok...
I hardly ever need to use pharmaceuticals because of my knowledge. Only when all else failed, use it.
Ok. Not sure what that has to do with Ivermectin being produced by Big Pharma, just like Tylenol is, but I'm happy for you.
I will use Ivermectin and Fenbendazole (pharma drugs) if I need them to do a protocol for cancer or something. At the mean time, if I want to do parasite cleanse, I use DE, black walnut or Artemesia.

Pick a lane.
AGAIN. I don't use pharma unless I absolutely have to. Last resort.

Have you look at alternatives?

Oh. You brought up a good point about Acetaminophen.
Do what work is how I see it.
Horse paste doesn't have Tylenol in it.
