If it is end to end encryption over a browser, you could verify it by looked at the browser source because it would be client side. Sounds like this isn't out yet though, nor do I have a twitter account.
Google said they never keep data when you request it deleted or never tracked, still did though. They made the encryption they can break it if they want. Its purely trust. And right now trust with tech is an all time low, let alone general society. Im a huge nerd and I want nothing to do with modern tech. I want the older stuff if I can get my hands on it. But the new stuff while more powerful it just doesnt treats you like a data set to be collected. I trust Elon a tiny bit more than other big tech but not enough to trust that nothing will be logged or scrapped.
This is legitimate. I’m a software engineer, and when something can’t be decrypted, it truly can’t be decrypted. If Elon is making this claim, I’m confident he’s ensuring it’s irreversible.
Actually WhatsApp did it first. Signal was spun out og WhatsApp after Meta/Facebook acquisition iirc due to WhatsApp collecting metadata, but it can't read the contents of the message.

That's false.
Signal was always its own thing. Going back to 2014 under the Signal name and 2010 under a predecessor name. It's open source software, and other companies are free to use the same security protocols. Meta and Whatsapp and I believe now X use those same security protocols in their apps.
You might be mixing the control and ownership of Signal up with the massive exodus of Whatsapp users to Signal a few years ago. That was because Meta bought Whatsapp, and they are inherently untrustworthy. Signal already existed as a separate entity which justified the exodus.
Trust me, bro.
yep... NSA is recording it all...
Yeah I don't believe for one second he can't read chats. I would bet massive sums of money on it.
I would have believed if he said "I can't readily read chats.
My thoughts exactly

I don't like modern tech either, but right now, I depend on it for work.

Depends at what point the encryption is being done. Many companies that collect data do eventually encrypt it
Nice to know. Thanks.
Signal did it first 🤷♂️

I just wish Signal's client was less of a turd...
