DOT must be the corrupt link in the chain. Just turn the State Police and local sheriffs on them, instead of fining ordinary travelers for seat belt and child safety seat violations, and minor traffic violations, etc.
My Dad was an independent, driving oranges from FL to NYC ~1950. He gave it up, no money to be made, went back to farming. He then used his tractor with a trailer to haul cattle to the stock market about 50 miles away. He railed against the DOT, who would pull him over and fine him for minor things, as though he were a professional inter-state trucker.
And YET the DOT has NOT pulled over, and allowed for DECADES, people who cannot read traffic signs, much less the map books which show the bridge heights and weight limits, to drive 18-wheelers inter-state!! Those maps are not printed in Indian as I have seen in truck stops!
What has the DOT been doing?? Well Buttigeg we know, but his predecessors?
It is not just a problem with commercial drivers. People allowed to drive on our streets that do not know English are a danger to everyone. The problem has only gotten worse since many states have issued licenses to illegals. Then we wonder why our insurance rates are so high.
That's no joke fren. Many of these 3rd worlders do not know how to drive. There is also a market for fake driver's schools that issue certificates. There was one just busted in NY that was helping Chinese get licenses for a price. There were people on the payroll within the DMV that would issue a license without someone actually taking the driver's test. I have no doubt there are more of these operations throughout the country.
This has been one of the biggest failures of NAFTA. We saw this coming. No one should be allowed to drive in this country without knowing English. Period! That should also include regular non-commercial DLs.
Why the hell is Florida issuing CDL's to illegal aliens?

That's exactly what the residents of Springfield OH said about the Haitians! They could not drive, would run up on the sidewalks etc.
