Wow! I was stationed at Support Center Alameda for 4 years after making Chief Petty Officer and loved it. When I was stationed there, times were definitely different from today's world. I would imagine the J.O.O.D (Chief Petty Officer) was the Coastie that had to make up the decision to fire on the truck, because he is in charge of the Island when it's his duty night. I retired from Coast Guard on 1/1/94!
ALAMEDA, Calif. — At approximately 10:00 p.m. (PDT) on Thursday, Coast Guard security personnel standing watch on Coast Guard Island observed a vehicle driving erratically and attempting to weaponize the vehicle to ram into Coast Guard Base Alameda.
@ USCG
personnel issued multiple verbal commands to stop the vehicle, the driver failed to comply and proceeded to put the vehicle in reverse — suddenly accelerating backwards at a high rate of speed directly toward them. When the vehicle’s actions posed a direct threat to the safety of Coast Guard and security personnel, law enforcement officers discharged several rounds of defensive live fire.
No Coast Guard personnel were injured during the incident. Two civilians were injured and are expected to survive. The truck driver was wounded in the stomach and is being held for mental health evaluation. A bystander was struck by a fragment, treated at a local hospital, and released. The Federal Bureau of Investigation is the lead agency for this investigation, and we are coordinating with our law enforcement partners.
Wonder what was with the camera guy getting good shots of the goings on at this exact moment?? 🤔 If it wasn't for Homeland Security being the one to post this, I would think this was a movie stunt in hollyweird.
EDIT -
I just heard on the news that there were protesters outside that Coast Guard Base, when this happened.
What is with the camera guy standing downrange of a truck that guards are shooting at?🤡 I'm surprised he didn't take one. Is the camera guy a real journalist, or official Antifa photographer or something like that?
I heard on the news that there were protesters there in front of the base. I'm assuming that is why a camera guy was there. What I'm now wondering is "why" they were protesting at that particular place? And I'm assuming the guy thought he would be glorified by the wackos protesting.
Amazing how stupid some of these people are. What "success" could ramming a (regular, non-armored) vehicle at a facility in which there are numerous trained, armed military personnel - who would likely take action to stop the action - produce?
A few consequences/results:
The facility wasn't destroyed or shut down and no CG were harmed or killed.
The happening made the news, which may have mentioned the CG/military and their operations as being a "factor", but the story is primarily about the ramming, not the border or deportations.
The individual damaged his or her vehicle, thereby incurring personal financial loss because insurance won't cover it.
The individual was injured, but wasn't killed and didn't become a "martyr for the cause" at the hands of the "big bad" CG lawfully defending themselves and the property.
The individual may have made himself or herself appear to be mentally ill (rather than a "social justice warrior" or whatever "look" he or she was hoping to project).
The public might negatively associate the individual's actions and/or mental state with members of group(s) with which the individual is/was associated, which is likely contrary to his or her intended goal(s).
The individual FA'd and will likely FO - something he or she might not have had to do until now.

These clowns are trying to create "incidents." It is part of their playbook.

Does the Coast Guard catch wetbacks if they are coming by sea?
My understanding is yes.
What Mac said. It’s a key mission.
I seriously was hoping he'd get dropped. Zero fuqs

All in all, not a "win" for him or her.
Well said fren. Actions have consequences.
Uhauls can hold lots of explosives.
Somebody's not getting their security deposit back on that U-Haul.
Bout fucking time these men were given STK orders. No more putting up with this bullshit.
The guy got away? Did anyone think to get a couple of guns in the front/side of the truck to shoot at the driver? Guess not.
They said...
Our military seems to be getting a lot of practice these days.
Who are the idiots down range of the coasties?
