Gait analysis has been around for many, many years. With the right software and source data, it's nearly a fingerprint.
There's two problems here:
I don't fully trust Kelly's disagreement here because she and Baker have had a lot of conflicts in the past.
Baker hasn't released any details on the analysis. We don't know the software platform, the analyst, nor do we have access to the high quality source video they reference in the article that they obtained from a private source. This video is not in the public sphere.
I'm intrigued by Baker's story and I have some professional experience with gait analysis to the point where I'm a staunch advocate for the science (when done well). But we really need to know more.
I've never heard of it being used as evidence, especially as the PRIMARY article of evidence. I would never convict someone based on how a person on a security cam was walking.
What I wondered is how did they narrow their investigation to this woman? In order to view old footage of her, they would have needed to have her name first. Who gave them that information?
We can only analyze what we can surmise. I have to be transparent and admit that I have never trusted Glen Beck or the Blaze. Suspected Paytriot after trying to resurrect his brand.
I set aside my personal and professional disputes with Baker--as well as my being the target of sustained personal attacks by Kyle Seraphin who has now inserted himself in the story--to consider this report objectively. After all, no one has done more reporting on the events of Jan 6 and its aftermath than I have, including numerous reports on the pipe bombs dating back to summer 2021. But I am shocked at the weak evidence cited in The Blaze article and nonexistent evidence contained in the piece itself. My guess is more edits will be made and we soon may hear from the named individual herself.
Andrew Breitbart's tactic was to put out just enough information so the opposition would get caught in lies. Not sure Glenn Beck ever picked that tactic up yet.

The courts are still behind the technology. It's been primarily used by clandestine services.
I would absolutely convict someone based on gait analysis if the following conditions are met:
The combination of unique proportions and unique biomechanics are the equivalent of a fingerprint.

Even if wrong they are getting close enough to find that person. Maybe they are holding back something of importance.
The information may not seem like a slam dunk to many but if this data makes it statistically significant, they are more likely than not to be right.

Another suspect with SAME gait? Gait analysis can help secure criminal convictions, especially since criminals cannot hide their gait.
