Can I just put in my two cents and say "NO!". Every time I hear of a law like this I feel a financial fleecing coming my way. Why should my tax dollars go to help business men pad their pocketbooks? Let them go out into the investment world and shake a tin cup at investors.
I understand President Trump is a business man and he knows it takes money to make money, but MY money should be used to run the government, not enrich a businessman who cannot get investors interested in his invention. If the businessman needs permits or advise I am not opposed to the government doing those things, that is what they are there for. But to go begging for money because it is a huge amount????? Naw, I can just as easily live in the dark ages as with AI telling me what to do. Sometimes I say pull the electrical plug on AI. The Amish do not need that invention, so why should they pay for it?
I 100% agree. On top of that, consider this. All of the states other than Texas share one of two grids depending on geographic location. There is one for the Eastern states and another one for the western states. You can bet that these companies will get all of the power they need even if it means that consumers are forced to use less.
Since Texas has it's own grid, we recently passed a law that forces these companies to generate their own power at their own expense and sell any excess back to the grid. They are being per-authorized to build small nuclear reactors to generate the power that they need.
Thank you. I hardly ever hear this looming issue being talked about. Where are they going to get the power needed for these energy sucking projects - especially using so called green tech like in CA? The grids are already taxed in many of these states, and as you said, the grids cannot handle it. They MUST supply their own energy on their dime.

Take over your local governments before AI takes over your land. We've had 1000's of acres of farmland in our county alone turned into solar farms. Almost every official is a Republican. It doesn't matter.

They're big wiener in a small town types. The stupidvisor has a Trump flag on the side of his garage and sold our land to a Canadian company to power NYC. Local governments have their own deep state. We also took over 100's of acres of farm land ON a wildlife refuge for a chip factory. It's literally the middle of nowhere. The location alone makes no sense.
Don't those data centers need gobs of energy we don't have? And yet if we don't turn the light off each time we leave the room we get swatted for "wasting energy" and harming the planet! Make this make sense.
