I am familiar with Dr. Price's work. He was a dentist. He and his wife traveled all over the world checking more native populations that had not been affected yet by the influx of industrialized diets. What he found was that children who were eating far more refined carbs versus protein and fat, had profound changes in dentition and skeletal facial structures. That is the big difference and it held true everywhere he went. He also concluded that it only took about 1 generation for that change to occur due to diet.
I believe it was Price who also recognized the importance of chewing on hardened things for strong teeth and jaws. Our diets are often lacking, as we have removed most bones, etc, before consuming. African dental (or chew) sticks can be helpful!
Absolutely. Muscles and bones need resistance stressors to be healthy. Use it or lose it. Most "foods" that are soft are processed refined high carb that have few health benefit - especially for the teeth. "F" the food pyramid invented by big ag.
Weston A. Price Foundation has a podcast, Wise Traditions. And there are several associated books for pregnancy and childcare and healthy living promoting by Sally Fallon Morell, who founded the Foundation. Good stuff. Nourishing Traditions is the series.
You are what you eat healthy or unhealthy. I personally cut out 95% junk food in the 90's including any sodas, next time your grocery shopping look at what people are loading into their carts people need to make better choices but people buy what tastes good to them not what is healthy, I fell into that category myself. Most process food not good people buy it for convenience.
The article above proves the point.
The differences described in the physical presentation of both sets of children in the quoted study, is basically the same as between vegans and normal people today.
To be honest, vegans were some of the most unhealthy people I treated in my practice. I saw 40 year olds with the skeletal structure of someone in their 80's. They were unable to retain body heat with moderate to severe muscle loss. It's not for everyone and for some, a vegan diet can even be dangerous.
Sugar is a major traded commodity for a reason. Convenience foods and over processing, packaging, from cardboard to plastics are great business. Poorer people gobble up the crap because they are addicted to sugar since childhood, and it is an addiction. I was on the food panty board for years, the pantry was attached to my church. One of the issues was boxed cereal, the parents would come in saying that their kids did not eat the whole oats, that they wanted captain krunch. Trying to explain the health to them was like talking a foreign language.
"Corporate" food production and "The Medical Industrial Complex".
For "Them", it's a win/win situation. Control of food nutrition and creation of "Customers"for the products and services of "The Medical Industrial Complex"

I think it's both what makes them richer AND what makes us unhealthy.
I agree.

Shop the perimeter. It’s amazing how much in a grocery isn’t real food.

Thanks for pointing the fact that we are omnivorous, unless abnormal (i.e. mentally challenged).
