We all need to be very watchful of any COS. While there are potentially good outcomes, blue states might want to exert pressure to alter the Constitution in their way, first and second amendments especially
Amendments cannot take away from our freedoms, only restrict government from eroding them. The Constitution is merely the charter that authorizes the limited power delegated to the government. It has no power over people, only over government. it also has no authority over rights, since that is the province of our Creator alone.
From what info I've read, the reason most blue states aren't backing this is because its a limited subject COS. And do you honestly believe that 38 states would agree to end 2A? It takes 38 yes votes to pass any constitutional amendment via COS.
Edit: means we only need 13 no votes to kill it. I think we'd have at least 13 states voting no on any change to the 2A
I can only almost guarantee one no vote on altering 2A from Louisiana, super majority red at state level, and they'd get more than bargained for should they elect to pull that crap here. Sportsman's Paradise would cease if 2A was watered down.
Edit: that's assuming we don't all lose our minds to the libtard virus by time that ever happens. I personally believe Congress will suddenly change tune if we get the 34 votes to call COS - they play zero part in what is amended. I hope it scares the ever loving crap out them tbh
Yes, in fact Mark Levin wrote a book on that some years ago, called "The Liberty Amendments." He also pointed out that the states can bypass Congress to form a COS. One of his interesting suggestions was to nullify the 17th Amendment, which took choosing Senators away from the states and made the Senate an elected position.
The wisdom of that is this: We The People already have representation in the House, and while the states once had representation through the Senate, that was taken away and given to the people to decide. States SHOULD have representation in Congress, but after passage of the 17th Amendment, they lost that.
Agree there. When senators were appointed not elected, they could be REMOVED the same way. We gave up our state leverage over them to ensure they voted how the state wanted, by either the legislature voting to remove them or the governor just removing them. There's an issue with corruption either way, so I'm on board with having a method of removing them without letting them SCREW US for 6 years before we can even try to vote them out. From what I recall of US History, reps are different because they are up for re election every 2 years, so they can't cause the same amount of damage. I would like a strick but doable method to remove either if necessary.
Edit: I believe the return states rights portion is to do that very thing as well.
You know I used to be all for term limits until I learned about election fraud from the Clinton's on 2015/16 then I realized term limits are just a cop out for not wanting to have secure and accurate elections. Why term somebody put who is actually doing a good job. What good does forcing someone out of office who does good work, and when someone who does bad work should be VOTED OUT plane and simple.
Keep i mind, frens, that the 17th amendment changed how senators are elected. It used to be that the state legislature chose their US senators. Then, that was changed by the 17th amendment and senators were chosen by the people of their states.
How many state legislatures have been majority republican over the years? What do you suppose that would mean for the majority in the US Senate?
Btw, it happened in 1913. The same year that dirty deal was made on Jekyll Island. Coincidence?
I think if we believe there is a Q and a Q+, and we believe they will succeed, we don’t need a Convention of States to tinker with the Constitution.
I don’t trust most politicians with minor issues, why would I trust them to have that much power to amend the Constitution? How do we know this isn’t a huge bait and switch scam to save the Uniparty?
What we need are free and fair elections. One day, paper ballots, counted in a fraud proof process. If we had that we don’t need term limits or a COS.
No it is not. Louisiana damn sure isnt voting to kill the 2A. It has limited goals, and killing 2A isnt it. They want term limits on congress, along with other restrictions. I have received information on what they are aiming to accomplish.
So we are currently fighting a war. Our enemy is the people who are currently in high government positions, including those who would be attending this convention of states. Are we really so blind as to support this convention full of the people who hate us? Do not be fooled by anyone who says that the convention will only cover one or two issues. If this convention is called , I can guarantee you that they will gut our constitution and bring on the new world order. Does anyone really trust any of our politicians with this power?
A convention of states is just that. The Congress is not a participant. Its like the owners of a company getting together and deciding to change employee policy. The employees do not get a say when its their poor behavior that caused the COS to be called.
It's the Congress who "calls a convention". Congressional Research Service in a document from 2014 has a whole chapter titled 'Congress - a key player in the event of an Article V Convention'.

Hope you're right, but you ARE right about the number of states required to amend the Constitution.

A Convention of States doesn't do anything to the Constitution directly.... That would be A Constitutional Convention which is a bad thing.
All a COS does is allows states to propose Amendments just like congress does.... Only it protects us from a rogue congress.... Like we have now....
And the states can vote those in without any vote from Congress. Thats the point
And you all trust that whoever is "voting in the amendments" will do the right thing? I don't.
The states vote them in and I believe voters get a vote first to determine a yes or no by their legislature
People.... Please research the difference between a "Convention of States" (good) versus a "Constitutional Convention" (bad)"...
The former protects us from a rogue congress....
Thank you for that info. I get a tad confused about people thinking it would wipe out the 1A, or the 2A.
It would wipe out at least the 2A. That is the intend of the COS Project: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WwgIV3WL5XE

Vote no then. I do believe WE get to vote and that helps legislature determine vote. Its ALL States only

No, congress is NOT involved. States made the fed govt. Congress is not our boss, WE are theirs. The states are deciding to reclaim their power.
