Amelia is a fictional character from Pathways: Navigating the Internet and Extremism, a UK government-funded educational game developed by Hull City Council and Shout Out UK to teach students about online radicalization and extremism.
UK Government decided to make an anti "far right" propaganda game where if you chose to agree with Amelia, go to "dangerous websites or forums" watch a video that is "against what the UK gov deems safe" your character faces re education in the storyline. They intended this game to be in schools there.. however didnt go as planned. lol
She is portrayed as a purple-haired, goth-style schoolgirl who espouses anti-immigration and nationalist views, intended to serve as a cautionary antagonist. The game’s narrative presents her as a figure promoting "far-right" ideologies, with players expected to reject her rhetoric and avoid joining her protests.
However, in early 2026, Amelia became a viral internet meme, particularly among far-right and nationalist communities, who embraced her as a symbol of British identity and resistance to progressive policies.
This backfired on the UK government’s messaging, with critics arguing the game equated legitimate concerns about immigration and national identity with extremism. The game was pulled from public access after widespread backlash, but Amelia remains a prominent figure in online culture as a symbol of anti-establishment sentiment.
Amelia Earhart comes to mind as well. Even the name they chose for her was not a good choice if they intended her to be the "bad vibe" in the game. tbh.
I'm probably old and out of touch with the younger generation, but that was cringe. Gratuitous up-skirt shots, the music, the anime.. ugh. Only made it 1/2 way though.
However, if this is what gets their attention, then more power to it. lol
I don't think it's a "sex sells" thing if that helps. If the music video didn't have some lewd stuff it wouldn't be covering the subject matter to it's fullest extent.
Amelia is a counter point to a religion that wants to cover women up. And the UK is suppose to be a place a woman can walk around safely in a short skirt.
Also the video maker's appeals to the gamergate faction. The artistic celebration of women being beautiful and sexy is a right leaning political statement in that landscape as much as the UK one.
1:55 lol, vtubers/twitch who have been much pushing back and speaking up on all the BS that the UK is subjecting on its citizens. I recognized a few of them at a glance.
There's a lot of easter eggs. I recognised the image used by Carl Benjamin for his old "Sargon of Akkad" channel near the start, count Dankula's nazi saluting pug, there were loads of them...
She's like Tank Girl but with out the mohawk, the tattoo's, and the weed smoking mutant kangaroo's....I jest a bit.
Who or what is Amelia, and why should we care about this?

Amelia will become a popular Girl's name soon.

Agreed. Have seen only a few Amelia vids, and they're all better. But like you said, I guess we need every demographic.

Seemed a bit over sexualized to me.
…can’t sell patriotism without a crotch shot? But then again GAW Sunday Funnies always has a sexy chick with guns at the end.

Nice, brit pride for the new gen. Building off of kpop demon hunters.
God help them if it takes this level of depravity to inspire them.
