There is. Much like Trump allowing Covid to happen to some extent, sometimes there isn’t a “good” choice. This is not to suggest that it was ideal, nor that anyone needs to like it, just that sometimes necessary is necessary. Fren, I think one of us is misunderstanding the other. To me, this is a small disagreement over a tactical choice at a far ago place in time. I agree that we do not currently have a Republic, and I also want the Republic back.

I am not asserting that Lincoln did a good thing in any of my comments. Most of them are giving him the benefit of the doubt and asserting that it was an ugly, necessary tactical decision, but I am also fully open to the other potential of his having committed a terrible act of war. I am not trying to assert that either one is true of false, but am only laying out some potentialities. My other claim that there is a lot of disinformation about the civil war was backed up by you yourself in your final statement.
