Senators answered to state legislatures
States had direct representation inside the federal government
Federal expansion could be resisted institutionally
State sovereignty had a permanent seat at the table
After the 17th Amendment:
Senators became national politicians
Campaign funding and media influence grew dominant
Senators became more responsive to national party pressures than to their states as sovereign entities
The states lost their direct structural defense inside the federal government
It cuts both ways. The Senators were not responsible to the people. Just the state bureaucrats. Over the last few decades, it has been voter fraud that made them unaccountable to the people. Depending on who controlled the voting process, you could be way outside what the majority in your state want.
Ant they STILL don't believe that they are responsible to the people.
Case in point the The three day a week schedule and the disappearing act a couple of weeks ago when they should have been funding DHS and passing the SAVE America Act.
I guarantee that most financial advisors have been working six or seven days a week for the past month. Just so that you can pay for the earmarks that those senators tack on to anything they pass due the 12 hours a week that they are not at a cocktail party,, fancy dinner, or luncheon soliciting campaign contributions.
States Rights : First Nail ? Or is it FIRST nail for FREEDOM rights ?
"The Supreme Court ruled 4–1 that Georgia did not possess sovereign immunity and was subject to suit by individual plaintiffs in federal court."
Chisholm v. Georgia (1793)
Care to guess how fast they passed the 11 th Amendment ?
Not to mention allowing anyone to read this :
"If one free man, an original sovereign, may do all this; why may not an aggregate of free men, a collection of original sovereigns, do this likewise? "
Aside from the Senate, every patriot can use these same points to counter the progressives who want to eliminate the electoral college and replace it with the popular vote.
NONE OF IT MATTERS.........They have no morals or heart for people.
Just remember when God threw out Moses from the promise land. His heart grew hard towards the people....I will say it's hard some times because you want it to move a certain way but STIFFED NECK people are in the way.
Nothing has changed. Side note:...The Constitution is a FRAME in which to put your works. The people running our old government never liked the FRAME because it was made for a MORAL PEOPLE. Anything past this is MUTE and in case you are wondering how IMMORAL ARE THEY....17th Amendment IMMORAL

Close , *they don't fear the people or the State Legislatures anymore.
After the weaseled in the 16th , they knew then they would have all the money necessary to BUY the NEW 17th Amendment Whores.
We need to tar and feather a few.
Or hang them.
Where's Schiff?
It's much easier for the people to control the State legislature.
It used to be.
Maybe not in the 4th largest Economy in the World. Commiefornia is Europe's Ukraine.
I've always said the 17th was the final nail in State's Rights and was the destruction of the republic.
The 19th enters the chat...

Well said.

I do not believe the 17th was legitimately ratified. Regardless, we have the power and the right to do something to change it.
I strongly agree. We need to repeal the 17th.
It was passed,so the Karen's could push through prohibition

And Governors, who generally aspire to be Senators, appoint interim Senators in a quid pro quo...
When at it, remove 16th and restore the original 13th: prohibition on titles of nobility.
