Dolphins have been trained by the U.S. and Soviet/Russian militaries since the 1960s to detect underwater mines, protect ships from enemy divers, and locate lost equipment. While often cited as "kamikaze" or "bomb-placing" weapons, their primary role involves marking mines with buoys for human disposal and tagging divers.
Key Facts About Military Dolphins:Mission Roles: Dolphins use their superior sonar to locate mines in the Vietnam War, Persian Gulf War, and Iraq War. They also guard naval vessels against enemy swimmers.
Target Tagging: Instead of placing explosives themselves, training typically involves a dolphin bumping an enemy diver to attach a marker buoy, allowing human divers to intervene.Soviet and Russian Use: The Soviet Union trained dolphins in Sevastopol for tasks such as detecting enemy divers or underwater sabotage. Russia reportedly resumed this training in 2014.
The "Bomb-Placer" Myth: While CIA, Soviet, or other proposals may have considered it, the documented role of U.S. Navy dolphins is detecting and tagging, not necessarily carrying explosives to attack ships.Current Usage: The U.S. Navy Marine Mammal Program remains active, training bottlenose dolphins and California sea lions for port security and mine clearance.Dolphins used in these programs are typically kept in open water pens and are not "trained to attack" in a way that risks their lives, focusing rather on their intelligence and sensory capabilities, notes
I knew Dolphins have been trained historically. In fact some of the U.S experiments with Dolphins got REALLY fucking weird. Granted the people charged with running them were also strange as well.
I was more so commenting that realistically any use of Dolphins to actually plant explosives. Is likely a one way trip for the dolphin.
I wanted to repurchase some more sistema plastic food storage containers from Amazon & was shocked at the price posted. What cost me $6.99 in 2015 is now $21.84. I don't see the same increase for other plastic food containers at Walmart, but I am wondering if the embargo is affecting plastic prices for European producers.
Most of the base plastic materials are coming from China. The squeeze on oil resources for China have strained downstream industries such as chemical companies that manufacture the raw plastics that are later fabricated into finished product whether in China or in other countries. It is also affecting textile industries. This is one of the things that bites with globalization. It works well until it doesn't.
New Zealand is also suffering from oil shortages. But I do not think that New Zealand manufactures their own raw plastics.
The problem with manufacturing is that the country of origin is listed as the country that made the final product. The country where the raw materials originate from is a different matter. One of the biggest chemical plants in Germany pulled up stakes several years ago and moved their operations to China. China basically has had a stranglehold on raw materials for years. Same thing with rare earth minerals and magnets used in almost everything electronic. Most of the base compounds for most of the pharmaceuticals we use come from China. Most of the developed nations have long given up on making base chemicals and compounds used to make other products. Part of deindustrialization and self sufficiency for the sake of globalism. Like I said, it works until it doesn't. We are seeing that play out in the cost of raw materials that depend on oil - which is a lot.
Other countries can not compete with China's unfair trade practices, government subsidies that allow companies to undercut global markets even if they operate at a loss, poor and unsafe working conditions, and there is no enforcement on Chinese companies that pollute the environment. Most of China is hazardous to human health because it is so polluted - and no one does anything about it. The air is polluted, the food is toxic, and you can't drink the water. Through BRI China has been exporting that environmental destruction everywhere they go. They simply don't care as long as they can make a profit. Then they have the nerve to lecture other countries about pollution. Trump is trying to reverse this trajectory but there will be some painful adjustments in order to get there.
Have you considered switching to glass? It is much safer than anything made of plastic. Especially if you want something that can be put in the microwave or the dishwasher. Heat and any plastic, no matter what the label says, is not a good idea.
Propaganda is all the regime has left to try and stoke fear. Problem is that the only ones buying it are their base in Iran which is only less than 5% of Iran's population. If they don't keep this hardline base onboard the regime knows their goose is cooked.
They're gonna be shocked to learn that the US Navy train dolphins too.
That's right!
😃
Suicide Bomber Dolphins. That’s a new one.
Check this out:

Maybe it should be the name of a rock band.
They'd better not arm Dolphins...🐬💣🤬
Did you intend the pun?

This particular container said "Germany imports may differ from local products". So I assumed the price increase was a European issue.

walmart practices location pricing good chance the analytics told them that in your area they could get away with increasing the price.
We have the PERFECT counter - send in the Japanese!
How does iran obtain dolphins? Where will they train them?
I think this ridiculous story is likely the product of a translation error.
The mullahs actually said they were going to start f—king dolphins, since their goats all ran away.
😃

Sure -- like the aliens hiding out in the ocean are going to allow that... oh please!!
