The Atomic Energy commission will be witness to its collection. The uranium isotopic signature that will indicate its origin can be determined at a later date. We only need some, not all of it.
I would like to know how an "isotopic signature" will be present after enrichment processing, whose purpose and effect is to completely alter the isotopic composition of the uranium. It's like saying one can determine what part of the ocean a sample of distilled water came from.
I would think that the isotopic signature will be from the uranium that had not yet been enriched. You can’t just put all of the enriched uranium into a big pile, it will start a chain reaction. Just my thoughts.
There is no chain of custody which establishes that the items of enriched uranium are derived from the raw uranium.
If the objective is to obtain enriched uranium, you don't set any of the raw material aside. It's like extracting gold from quartz ore and leaving some of the gold-bearing ore to sit aside.

But there would be no way of establishing that the enriched uranium came from that supply. The number of centrifuges does not enter into the picture. That only affects how long it will take to accumulate uranium of a given enrichment. If they have 440 kg of material enriched to 60%, that suggests a raw uranium starting point of 440 x (60 / 0.72) = 36.7 metric tons. An eyebrow-raising quantity.
Was the Uranium One deal with processed or unprocessed uranium? I was under the impression it was the latter. How much uranium is supposed to be at stake from Uranium One? If the U1 amount is less than this estimated source amount, it would not have been the culprit. Numbers, numbers...they make all the difference.
Ah, I see what you’re saying. I’m going to suggest that looking at the enriched uranium is unnecessary. If unprocessed uranium is available to test for isotopic signatures, that’s all that is necessary to indict traitors if the uranium does indeed suggest that it is of US origin. It’s not necessary to prove what IRGC was planning to do with it, the very existence of it in the hands of IRGC suggests that there was foul play.

We only need enough samples to prove origin and that may require multiple collection points and in enough number to erase all legal doubt about the results findings and then the rest can be demolished and made less then useful right where it sits out of anyone hands and with few opportunities to collect for off the books uses by people unknown.

Look, I'm not interested in a Q-decode minuet. I can see how unprocessed uranium might have an original compositional fingerprint (and have said so). But I don't see how enriched uranium can have the same fingerprint as the source material when the enrichment process functions like an eraser. This is a technical question.
They can probably confirm the level of enrichment easily enough, but not the source material. And I have no idea how they propose to "destroy" it. One simple approach would be to dilute it with raw or depleted uranium, to make it worthless as bomb material (undo all that enrichment). But that would require tons of the stuff, and I question the handling feasibility of such quantities. Another approach might be to burn the enriched uranium into uranium oxide smoke and let it drift away. Somehow, I don't think this would be a starter, due to toxicity concerns. Dissolving it all into nitric acid just eliminates one problem by creating another. So, "Inquiring minds want to know." If you can catch a hint, I would be glad to hear it.
I'm just as unknowing as you are and I'm unable just as you are to explain the science behind it and not just in hypotheticals , I'd have to commit myself in researching the hell out of it.
Look above. BooniesRedneck did the work. The identification depends on the ratios of three isotopes, U-234, U-235, and U-238. From a given level of enrichment, the sample composition can be projected backwards from a known enrichment process to find the original composition, owing to the fact that a given process affects each isotope differently (not possible with only two isotopes). Still involves some "ifs" but it's a leg to stand on.
That proof might be the final nail in Obummer's (abd Killary's) coffin(s)
