They get the water for the reflecting pool from the tidal basin, which is know to have runoff issues with residential fertilizer usage.
I always thought it was stupid to use gross water from the tidal pool for the reflecting pool. I don't know why we're still doing it after this renovation.
The entire reason why they switched the water source from city tap to the tidal basin in 2012 was because the pool was leaking water at crazy rates.
But this renovation was supposed to have sealed all those leaks, thus negating the reason why they're using skanky water from the tidal basin.
So much of this is just beyond stupid. Why spend $14 million dollars on a renovation just to reuse old nasty piping and tubing? (The source of this latest algae bloom, according to Trump's administration.) Why did it not occur to any of these "experts" involved that this would just reintroduce algae again. Why are we still using skanky water that needs all kinds of expensive and potentially hazardous treatments instead of city tap, if all the leaks have been taken care of?
Why do DEMOCRATS PREFER FILTH AND DILAPIDATION?! 🤯
They want to sabotage it ONLY to try and claim Trump lost. That's all they care about.
The party of traitors and ingrates, where Fraud and Destruction are the Standard !!!
Patrol is basically inexpensive . We have 24/7 patrol who walks and drives the neighborhood where i live in san diego , its inexpensive . , the biggest thing to happen is - " George our much love patrol guy finds princess a lost dog belonging to a neighhor on Torrey Pines road ! Point is he is always around and calls police if needed ! Why is there not a patrol guy walking the area 24/7 their paid like 25 /30 an hour . We spend millions on statues etc and then cant spend pennys to protect them . Ill never understand !
I know people really don't want to hear the following, but it's one of those times I think things need to be pointed out before anyone uses this type of thing to redpill normies, and just winds up looking foolish and undermining our credibility.
I seriously doubt the issus with the reflecting pool is due to anyone ripping up the lining or covertly dumping bags of fertilizer in the middle of the night.
Instead, it's just another shining example of typical shitty government employees and known issues with fertilizer runoff from the lawns and gardens from the roughly 6 million people in the area, whose rainwater runoff goes into the Potomac, and then into the Tidal Basin, where the water for the reflecting pool is sourced.
The water source was changed back around 2010 because the pool was leaking so badly, they decided to save the city's tap water and use water from the tidal basin, and have spent millions of dollars trying to clean and treat it. It's a big reason why the pool was so gross to begin with. High phosphorus levels have been common since the change, so it showing up now isn't a surprise to anyone who is familiar with the history of the pool. So, no, I don't think anyone is going in and dumping bags of fertilizer to make algae bloom to make President Trump look bad.
Which brings us to the second point, which is just the typical shitty work we've come to expect from government contractors. Just look at how poorly planned this renovation was. Trump's own administration is blaming the algae on reusing old pipes and tubing that were full of algae. This was a $14 million renovation, and they reused all that tubing and equiptment? Ok, even if they did it to save money (perfect example of penny rich and dollar poor), it never occured to them to treat it and make sure it was free of algae before using it to refill the pool? Also, if they fixed all the leaks, why are they still sourcing gross water from the tidal basin that needs expensive filtering and maintenance? They were supposed to have just eliminated the entire reason they use that water.
I know people don't want to hear this because it's President Trump's pet project and he was so proud of it. It was a great idea and I'm sure he had the best of intentions, but just because he was proud of it doesn't suddenly negate the KNOWN low quality/standards of governmemt employees and contractors, poor planning, or known fertilizer runoff issues in the area.
The knee jerk reaction is to expect that because President Trump was the motivating factor behind this and he was proud of it and spoke about it often that it somehow translates to any of the people actually doing the work a) being competent or b) giving a fuck about the quality of work they're doing.
Just, before you get upset about this, just really take a few minutes to think objectively about it and at least be aware of all of this, because I guarantee if you try to show this to liberals or normies as proof of anything, they're going to bring all this up. And if we act like we don't know any of these issues (especially the fact that phosphorus has been found in high levels for at least 15 years) it's going to damage our credibility with the same people we're trying to redpill. Let's not work against ourselves here, please.
I thought the fact is was full of algae again a few days after the restoration was what liberals are saying makes Trump look bad. Not sure why anyone would bother ripping up the lining.
So immediately, first... make him pay for the repairs. All of it.
Make who? They never actually caught anyone trying to do this.
It's because these people are evil. All they care about is evil things.
Lock these EVIL TRAITORS UP !!! America Deserves Better !!!
Nuance is overrated.
Sometimes people are just EVIL.
They were also doing late night dumps of algae cultures into it.
The independent water testing showed elevated phosphorus levels. Fertilizer. That will foster an algae bloom.

That probably also contributed, if true. Seems like they'd clean that out at least, if they were reusing the old piping.

Because at the root they are communists and, as such, not really human and devoid of any of the qualities that distinguish actual human beings.
Why don't they have at least 17 cameras pointing at it? After their "8647" grass vandalism stunt they should have seen this as a possibility.
You'd think that would have been something they would have predicted happens.
I'm wondering why they're not doing it now, either.
Isn't damaging a national monument 10 years in prison now? Covers more than statues.
The leftists reeeeed at the cost to fix it...then they rip it up, thus creating more expense. The Democrats are not sending their best. 🙄
Faux News was reporting it was flaking off.
Idiots.
I saw that. It’s pathetic.
Also, the algae was highly likely fertiliser some clown added.
I thought fertilizer was si expensive.
I don’t think it takes much for algae to bloom, just nutrients and sunlight.
Destruction of government property is definitely punishable. Dems are dumb.

Underrated post.
Is this the suspect? https://files.catbox.moe/txjj97.jpeg
I do believe they'll be charged with hate crime the same as the algae dumpers.
Who will? They never actually caught anyone doing it.
These people are crazy.
The title here is b.s.
Like RIPD. They’re Deados.
