I wish Trump and everyone else didn’t phrase it as terminating/ending/killing "the filibuster." That’s not good persuasion, because 1) it’s a widely-known Senate tradition, and because 2) the traditional filibuster is not the problem. The true problem is the 1970s innovation of the “silent filibuster." When it was a physical thing you had to actually do, there was an upper limit on how long anyone can do it.
So it would be better persuasion to say “End the silent filibuster.”
My guess is that he now has to choose between getting primaried, and getting blackmail material on him released. Nothing else makes sense to me.. and he will save his own skin before anything else.
There's enough on him, why wait to be primaried. Can he be removed by a no confidence vote? Can JD step in as president of the Senate,? I don't think we can wait until 2028.
