The problem is not between Lebanon and Israel. The problem is between Israel and Hezbollah, the Islamic Republic's step child, and behind the IR sits the City of London. Lebanon is unable to control the monster within it's own borders that has essentially taken over the country. Lebanon needs help getting rid of Hezbollah if they are ever going to have a chance of getting a grip on their country. Behind the scenes they have asked for help from Trump and the Israelis since they cannot seem to get help from anyone else.
Trump's crack about letting Julani take a shot at them was no joke since the international community doesn't like how Israel is handling the situation. Julani hates the IRGC more than he hates Israel and has scores to settle with both the IRGC and Hezbollah. Syria itself in the past occupied Lebanon for approx. 20 years. So it has not been just Israel trying to keep a lid on things in Lebanon. The fake UN peace keepers completely failed at it. So who is left? Hezbollah will not stop until someone stops them.
Lebanon was once a great and beautiful place until it wasn't. The radical Islamists set up their bases of operation there which are being heavily funded by outsiders. The Lebanese are unable to compete with that. The Christian Lebanese tried the shared multicultural governance model years ago, and now we see the results. It never works. Their huge mistake after the civil war was allowing Hezbollah to remain armed. The Lebanese government has made many mistakes in the past that got them to this point. What the answer is, I don't know. But what happens in Lebanon unfortunately does not stay confined in Lebanon. So, without some sort of real international intervention from those that have a shared interest in keeping the situation under control, this problem in Lebanon is not going away anytime soon.
Update:
June 26, 2026. Lebanon, Israel, and the US signed a trilateral framework agreement in Washington aimed at disarming Hezbollah and facilitating a partial Israeli withdrawal from southern Lebanon. The deal establishes a performance-based process where the Lebanese Armed Forces (LAF) will gradually assume control of specific areas as Hezbollah's military infrastructure is dismantled, rather than following a fixed timetable.
To oversee implementation, the agreement creates a trilateral Military Coordination Group for Lebanon (MCG4L), facilitated by the US, to coordinate security handovers between the IDF and the LAF. As part of this framework, the US committed $130 million in aid, including $100 million for humanitarian assistance and over $30 million to reimburse and strengthen the Lebanese military. While Israeli officials describe the deal as a path to removing the threat on their northern border, Hezbollah has rejected the agreement, stating it is not bound by the terms and vowing to retain its weapons.
I always talk to people that are actually from a particular place to get their take rather than relying solely on distorted spun news and other sources. Their insights of their own situations I find a hell of a lot more trustworthy and credible than some talking head. I know several Lebanese Christians - beautiful and wonderful people. That was when I got my first insights on what the hell is actually happening there on the ground. I also know several Iranian diaspora and have learned a great deal from them as well.
I have no doubt your friend's heart must break for what has happened to his country. Let's just pray that with God's help, maybe this time there can be a chance to rid Lebanon of the scourge that is Hezbollah and the Islamic Republic for the benefit of everyone in the region - especially the Christians that have a long history in the country all the way back to the time of the Apostles. Make Lebanon and Iran great again.
Israel has always stated they will never abide by any treaty and so far they never fucking have, I would love to see Trump let them loose, they have about 24 hours before they’re wiped out
