The best way is to cut funding in half. Take half of funding that's left and fund each county food bank in proportion to the county population and need. Food to fill the food banks could be sourced for a fraction of the cost of giving these people food cards. Then the needy can get their food staples throughout the month from their county foodbank. These people don't need soda, birthday cakes, steaks, seafood and all the other shit the buy. This change would allow more people to be helped for way less money. Make it happen!
But then the Pastors/Priests wouldn't be able to live in the lap of luxury... I don't attend Church in person because I believe most of the money the Churches take in should go back out in the community and only see token gestures. Plenty of we like gay signs tho'
Why don’t they eliminate that crap? If you have real disability or you are old then you get Snap directly from federal government not states. Need to be of US citizen or a resident. Black Asians Hispanics White or other races young people need to work period. The snap it is only who people can’t not work at all. Get a job everyone.
My parents were liberated after WW2 and sent to US. Churches sponsored them (and others) with wall to wall mattresses in church hall and church members would help by donating clothes and taking them on job interviews. The only govt benefit was periodic health checks at county health dept to screen for diseases and vaccines, required by law. NO ONE went on welfare or food stamps. It was considered a shame. They were so grateful they couldn't wait to become citizens and truly Americans. They worked all their lives, saved 1/2 their income to get on their own feet, buy a home, educate their kids.
No Catholic charities, no govt freebies, no govt shelters. True charity comes from individuals hearts, not from forced taxes

I do and that's exactly it. You know how bad it feels to wait on other people to feed you? It's a psychological trauma.
When I have to apply for unemployment back in 2008? I was about to pull all my hair out.
